Having rewired, replumbed, reheated, resurfaced and rewindowed an old house (just the roof left to go wrong...) we would love to move into a new new home, if you know what I mean.
Sorry to hear about the hassles. Sadly just about everyone I speak to with a new build has a simialr story to tell. The only exception was a guy who contracted the work out himself and had the time (and expertise) to go on site just about every week to make sure it was being done properly! |

Once you get thru the construction problems with a new house, you just get a short breather for the first year until things start going out of warranty (although you can easily spend the first year getting the construction problems fixed). Then it's just like any other house. If you do get lucky and have a quiet year, someone invariably gets the urge to redecorate! ![]() |

Hi GuysThings are not getting any better The heating engineer piped the boiler in wrong so I have the heating on when all I want is hot water When you turn on 3 appliances in the kitchen: Example: Microwave Toaster and Kettle all at the same time, it trips the breaker and shuts off all the sockets in the kitchen Still waiting for the Carpenter to trim the door bottom None of the phone sockets in all the other rooms except the lounge have been connected I gave the utility company instructions twice, to disconnect the gas in the old house and transfer the credit to my electricity account at my new house They screwed it up and sent me a disconnection order instead for non payment And so it goes on I should be back with you guys next week all being wellPS: I would like to make Keithhenry's new position permanant He has earned itThere is more than enough room for a 3rd Vice Captain Is that alright with you Keith? |

Please accept my consolations, Graham.
Be sure to check each socket with a circuit analyzer before you make the final payment to the electrician. It is easy for them to reverse wires by mistake. The socket seems to work, but expensive electronics can fry. Since I picked up a cheap plugin analyzer in 1983, I have found such problems in a quarter of my relatives' homes. There are a LOT of blog entries about new or remodeled homes on the Internet. The possible problems are endless. Lawrence |
