There doesn't seem to be anyone around. I hope everyone is ok. It's miserable and wet here in the midlands, but it's a nice change from the heat of southern California  Snow here today! Just a little early for it to be here, but with the huge cold front coming out of Canada mother nature said hello winter like weather early this year. Good thing it will only be here for a couple of days before we get back into the upper 50's. Take care everyone and have a good night. |

---------------------------------------- No, she has no idea yet. Although, I did walk past a jewellers windows with her the other day and tried to discretely get her opinion on some rings. I think I'm going for a white gold solitaire with a square stone. I just need to try and work out what size she is now! We're going to Cambridge on Thursday, so I have like 5 days to buy the ring - trip over to the Bullring this afternoon I think!  Anywho, have a good weekend all. Maybe next time I post i'll be engaged |

It's miserable and wet here in the midlands, but it's a nice change from the heat of southern California I got the green light from my girlfriends father last night; I asked for permission to take his daughters hand in marriage. I will be proposing in about 2 weeks time whilst we're away on a romantic weekend in Cambridge. Wish me luck! Anyway things to do, people to see. Keep those chips 'a crunchin' and those bits 'a byting. Ah, don't you love the tradionalists! A bit more than what I had in mind when I suggested you bring her back with you but this works too  Congratulations Spikey! After all, how could she possibly say no  |

No, she has no idea yet. Although, I did walk past a jewellers windows with her the other day and tried to discretely get her opinion on some rings. I think I'm going for a white gold solitaire with a square stone. I just need to try and work out what size she is now! Old trick here on this side of the pond is to innocently place you hand on hers from time to time with your fingers flat against hers. You eventually find a spot on one of your fingers that matches the size of hers where the ring will be and have the jeweler use that for the size. They can easily resize the ring once she has it but we guys do like to have it fit right off May not matter that much though and you may just might as well ask her for the ring size. After all, any time a girl's boyfriend asks her anything about rings in a jeweler's window, the jig is up. She knows what's up |

She knows what's up Very true, but all woman still love the romance of being asked someplace special that they'll never foget! Also the surprise of which ring you bought them lets them know if the man really knows what type of jewelry they like! It sounds like you have an excellent idea, and the romance part sound just as nice! Remember they love flowers!!!!  GOOD LUCK!!! |

----------------------------------------I'd not thought about the finger size matching thing, I would say I'll bear it in mind buy I won't have to use it again...  If it's too small/large we can get it adjusted fairly easily so no biggie there.P.S. I posted sooner than I thought I would so; no I'm not engaged yet. |

And it wouldn't surprise me to find out that Spikey is out looking for a place to rent a horse and some armor or something along those lines.
