Re: New Stat Image Generator - dcStat

I tried the custom dimensions option but the dimensions of the first item in the list seems to override. Well, I'm very happy with the banner I've been able to create even if it isn't exactly what I wanted. It's plenty good enough for me, quite unique I think, so don't go making my tiny problem a priority on your to do list. It can wait. But when you do get around to working on it.... it seems the first item on the list determines the final dimension, so, if you could let the user specify the order of the items in the list rather than just making the list alphabetical, maybe that would work?

Just wondering if you're using Borland compiler. An error message I saw yesterday mentioned T-String which AFAIK is strictly Borland speak. I use Borland C++ Builder, that's where I've seen T-String. Yah, all rebels use Borland, Sekerob, in case you're listening, code monkeys too, Didactylos laughing

Re: New Stat Image Generator - dcStat

I don't think I've ever used Borland... Went to an MS-heavy school(a bit unfortunate as I prefer linux, though that's a whole other topic), so we mostly used Visual Studio... w00t for code monkey 's.... laughing

dcStat is written entirely in PHP, so no compiler, just the server-side interpretting and outputting stuff.

To use the custom dimensions option, you must select dimensions that are at least as large as the largest dimensions within your collection of images. Some day I'll work something in to allow ordering.

For now, I'm still catching the little bugs here and there. I just realized BOINC sigs weren't updating as they should - I think I fixed that now...if anyone has an active BOINC project running in their sig, let me know if it updated correctly. smile

Yes, I noticed that. The custom dimensions option will probably be useful to many users but unfortunately it breaks my cute color fade. Oh well, what I've got is good enough for me. If you get around to working in the ordering idea some day then cool, if not then that's cool too.

When I graduated high school they were training key punch operators and Hollerith cards were still big. At university we worked on an old Honeywell mainframe (model T50?) and TTY terminals. C was just a rumor, a few of the profs believed writing ML was not such a bad thing when one got used to it and that assemblers were a luxury students should not be allowed to use until they demonstrated some proficiency in writing ML. Fortunately the faculty heads thought otherwise so they offered FORTRAN, COBOL and BASIC too. In my last year they got a Pascal compiler. Not that it mattered much to me, I majored in chem, minored in economics, comp sci was just a curiosity for me. I found my Borland Builder 4 CD at a flea market in a pile of used game discs, the seller thought it was a game and it cost me $15. It was current version. I hear Didactylos saying I paid too much laughing

You're showing your age, Dagorath. laughing angel

I did have a prof that loved ML and forced it upon us. Sounds like a nice price for the Borland CD....so, Didactylos is that much of a Borland fan? laughing

Re: New Stat Image Generator - dcStat

Once I'd written an OpenGL game in Object Pascal, there were few worlds left to conquor.

My first Borland software came free on the cover of a magazine. I did, however, shell out for more expensive Borland software at some point. Microsoft and IBM have given me heaps of free software over the years. Sun, of course, give it away free to everyone (Microsoft are moving in that direction, which makes me happy).

That sounds like an interesting combination...can't say I've ever tried that(or even thought of trying that).

Thanks, Dave. smile Just a heads up....I've added a Project Info page (not something I plan on going too detailed with, just a few links and project-specific statbar related quirks) and added your/Dagorath's/anyone else that may be involved's WCG Wiki link.

Everyone - If there are other links that would be good to add to the project info page, feel free to let me know (if you have links or questions that are for a project other then WCG, and you'd rather not post them here...feel free to stop by the DC Zone, I have an entire section set up for dcStat there - link in my sig).
