Seems the Results Server is up to receive the output, but the Server where the Task reporting takes place is down, still..... got a few 'Ready to Report' tasks with the 'Project Down' message.

cheers

Edit: It's now 14:30 UTC

Re: Validator task outage???

Is the validator down? I have a couple of pages of results unvalidated since the midday stats run (the ones that I have checked all have quorum).

Cheers,

Jonathan

Re: Validator task outage???

Any particular project?

Had 1 FAAH send in @ 11:46 UTC that validated immediately, but one HDC send in after the midday stats update did not (was 13:57 UTC).

We'll rattle the cages :D

Added: Rattled the cages at 14:15 UTC.... WCG techs will return in an hour or 2 bar another surprise NA blizzard.

Re: Validator task outage???

Sekerob,

FAAH & GC. No validations since the update, but fine before.

Regards,

Jonathan

Re: Validator task outage???

The transitioner stopped (it is the state engine that flags workunits to be validated, creates new results to be sent out, etc). During a backend process that loads new work into BOINC to be sent out we have been seeing that a lock timeout has occurred several times over the past week with the database and causes the transitioner to stop. We are working on resolving this problem. As for the moment I have started it back up and all results that were waiting to be validated should be validated now.

I still have five pages of WU's that are pending validation. Some of the WU's were sent at the end of last month. I'm not sure what's being validated, but very few of my WU's are.

Re: Validator task outage???

Sierrabound, unless you post factual confirmation that those end of Feb have all 3 copies returned, we cant do anything for u. They are still only day 6 or 7 old, when the due date is presently 8x24 hours after distribution for most projects. Click on the WU name in the Result Status page to verify and check back.

Re: Validator task outage???

I'm not asking you to do anything. I'm just frustrated by this whole process. Many projects do not require validation before points are awarded. The WCG process seems more complex than it has to be. The assumption here seems to be a WU is not good until proven otherwise.

Re: Validator task outage???

Yes, we suffer the same urgency to a more or lesser extend, but let me assure you that most projects do not credit until at least the second copy is back. CPDN is probably one of the few exception as these 'simulations' are running for months, are unique and have predetermined credit per trickle and a bonus if the the whole model is completed.

WCG is more lenient as here an invalid gives 50% credit of the remaining mean, whereas elsewhere and invalid gives zero.

For immediate satisfaction, switch to UD agent..... no questions asked, just crunch, send back and get credit...... that's pretty unique to me.
