I have copied the certificate into the folder and (what a miracle) no success.
I have tried curl(which use "ca-bundle.crt") instead of wget to download the index.html of "https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org" and that works. Again the error-message: "the web page at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ contains no BOINC information. It may not be the URL of a BOINC project. Plese check the URL and..." I will try at least another provider (at the weekend) may that will help! |

smartpillie, please follow these instructions carefully.
If this fails, then it is very likely you are using a proxy. You may not know about the proxy - some proxies are transparent. |

I had the same error.
I downloaded the ca-bundle.crt from boinc cvs page, copied it to my boinc working directory, set owner/group to boinc. worked fine for me. binaer |

An interesting aside, was running 5.6.0 for a few days and noticed a further cutting down of the work retrieved......not because the PC cant handle it, but rather, it's more conservative in estimating work planning not to cause 'late return' WU's. With the mix of FAAH and HDC it though has adverse effects with a few FAAH in between. Because of work availability on HDC, the times for HDC's have adopted 'time to complete' projections much closer to the FAAH crunched, which effectively causes the queue to run empty before re-connect.
---------------------------------------- Message 5488 - Posted 1 Sep 2006 11:16:03 UTC - in response to Message ID 5487. The work fetch has been improved so that it is less likely to overfill the queue. This is probably why you are getting less work at one time. To state it a bit clearer: My experience is, that if you were assigned to multiple projects, with older Boinc versions you had to experiment with the connection interval until the queue length was somehow like you wanted. Only "somehow", because you often had too much work for projects with a small ressource share and too less for those with high ressource share. With 5.6.x if you want to have a queue length of 2 days you set your connect interval to 2 days and all projects, that are allowed to download by LTD, will have a queue of 2 days plus a fraction of one WU. Finally I have tried another provider yesterday (analog via modem)! My assumption has been approved, this time I could attach a WCG - project with the BOINC-Manager (without to change the installation).
Thx for your advice! |
