Re: Anybody Else Seeing Inconclusive Status on HPF2 Results?

Got 5 inconclusives but no errors.

the log says....
Result Log

<core_client_version>5.4.9</core_client_version>
<stderr_txt>
Failed to open wcg_checkpoint.dat for reading. rc: 2. File doesn't exist?
Failed to open wcg_hpf2.random for reading. rc: 2. File doesn't exist?
Failed to open wcg_hpf2.random for reading. rc: 2. File doesn't exist?
Rosetta finishing with return code: 0

</stderr_txt>

I have switched off HPF2 for now till the techs see what is going on.

Those 3 Failed to open statements are normal. They are trying to locate the checkpoint files, if they don't exist, a new file is created. The reason for inconclusive means that your machine or another machines output did not match to make the quorum. Your host is working properly.

We are looking into other issues with the latest release of HPF2. Thank you for your patience and contributing to World Community Grid!

Re: Anybody Else Seeing Inconclusive Status on HPF2 Results?

I have 3 Inconclusive results. On one, all three results in the quorum took about the same time. On the second, one of the other results took half again as long as mine but I match with the other. On the third, I only took half as long as the other two.

Oh well, still some debugging to do. But this is normal at the start of a new project.

Re: Anybody Else Seeing Inconclusive Status on HPF2 Results?

Every inconclusive result tells the scientists something. Graham and those weeny credit mongers over at MOT can cut and run if they want. I'm crunching HPF2 until WCG decides it's time to stop.

Yep, all those flash graphics, spinning wirlygigs and what-nots are all just for show. When the going gets tough, MOT caves.

I'm not a scientist but what does it tell? File doesn't exist?

Re: Anybody Else Seeing Inconclusive Status on HPF2 Results?

Windflowers, up a few posts in this thread, uplinger tells us the "file doesn't exist" message is normal. The missing file is not causing the error, it's something else. The interesting part is the lines below ERROR, the lines about the exception. Those lines give the scientists and the techs clues as to why the science application errored. By analysing those clues they will eventually be able to debug the HPF2 WUs. The more clues they get the faster they will find the bug. Therefore we need to keep crunching HPF2 rather than turning it off in our preferences.

Dagorath, thanks for the expalnation. My concern is that this "inconclusive" error did occur for some time and if this continues to happen from time to time that would mean just a waste of electricity in crunching. I would still crunch HPF2 WUs hoping that this can be resolved soon.

Re: Anybody Else Seeing Inconclusive Status on HPF2 Results?

Most HPF2 units seem to crunch OK here. Only a few have failed. Glad to hear you're still crunching HPF2, Windflowers biggrin
