Is anybody else getting inconclusive status on HPF2 results? I have returned 6 HPF2 results:
----------------------------------------1 is pending validation 1 is error, crunched on host A 1 is valid, crunched on host B 1 is error, crunched on host B 2 are inconclusive, 1 crunched on host B, 1 on host C My A host gives an occasssional error so I'm not surprised by that one. The B and C hosts have been rock solid in the past on FAAH and HPF1. Using BOINC 5.4.9, hosts B and C have 1G RAM and lots of free disc space and Athlon 3300+. Is anybody else getting inconclusive status on HPF2 results? I have returned 6 HPF2 results: 2 valid 7 pending validation 2 inconclusive 3 inprogress, i note that the newest work has since been faah, hmmm, btw one of the "za" w/units on my linux boinc intel 32bit is stuck on 76.190% for eons, hmmm will watch this one, 17 hrs and still "running?" will give it a while longer in case the work is a bit assymetric regarding time / % / work completed etc... have already restarted boind and this puter stuck again on smae % but lost time from save point, hmmm watching, waiting |

Dagorath, on the HPF2 specific, only completed one sofar on BOINC 5.4.9 (i think the front end is pretty irrelevant as far BOINC version goes). It was send in and 'Valid'ated within the minute.
----------------------------------------Retsof57.....what's eons? observed at one time several hours of 'frozen' percentage. If 7 CPU time hours on BOINC are the norm for these babies, they're going to 'destroy' my results per day stats....just kidding ![]() PS, Dagorath, if only "1 meg RAM" your machines B/C dont meet spec ![]()

ok sekerob , eons was a tad exaggerated, perhaps only 30 mins :) i note now that it is 80% so jumped 4% in one go, usualy with the boinc agent on linux it has been doing the 3rd decimal point thing, ie always something "appearing" to tick over , so this one seems to be cooking asfaik..
also the 2 inconclusives i had were shared by 3 other computers also giving inc result and a 4th w/u sent out, hmmm not sure wot the story is there, nb the w/u in question are za 053_00553 and za 053_00935 cheers... |

Hello retep57,
Usually the first month of running a new project brings up a few points that need adjusting in the program. I expect the staff will investigate any work units that are inconclusive or error out to try to determine what is happening. I have no idea what is wrong, but I expect this in a new project. My HPF2 units have all gone through. Although I notice there are very few check points. This is a bad project for stop-and-go computing. Lawrence |

Ah stop and go and the very large gaps in the checkpoints (2.1% on the 1st i had)......read that version 5.6? of BOINC is going to wait until a checkpoint is reached before switching, benchmarking etc. Giving it the boot obvious wont be covered by that fix

Sekerob, fixed! Now.. who is that retsof57 you're responding to?
Lawrencehardin, I have a hunch you're right, it's just a few startup glitches/gremlins. I've had other units validate since my earlier report. |

Hi Dagorath
----------------------------------------For what it's worth all my invalids, errors and inconclusives are with FAAH and HPF1. But that's stats for you. My top tip for when you get a rash of these is the Hoover (or Dyson) treatment. This means removing the side panel (unless it's already off in the style of a true cruncher) and getting rid of all the fluff in there. Then they are good to go for another 6 months. All highly technical especially those root8cyclone dual vortex Dyson DC07's - have you seen the attachments on that Apparantly no loss of suction Never understood why they all had transparent bins until we got one The intrigue of whirling dust gets blokes hoovering or should that be Dysoning. I'll shut up now To all on the WCG have a great day Dave ![]() |
