 Bonzour whistlin jack de top tour guide here with todays interestin facts. i am here on de praslin island 27. praslin island is de sekond largest island in de seychelles. it has an area of 10 square miles 28. baie St Anne in de southeast corner of de island is where the ferries arrive and depart for mahe and la digue. it is a naturally sheltered harbour. 29. de jewel of praslin is de world heritage site of de Vallee de Mai which is in de praslin national park. dis is a unique palm forest where de strange coco de mer grow  30. de leaf petoile of de coco de mer is de largest of any plant and de double coconut is de largest seed in de world  31. it take about 15 years befor de trunk forms and another 20-40 years before de tree reach maturity. de nuts take 7 years to develop! de trees maye live for over 200 years and reach de height of over 100 feet. thats a lot of feet 32 de vallee de mai is also de home of de very rare black parrott. 33 praslin is famous for de pink granite which is caused by de presence of alkaline felspars, whatever dat mean. de parliament buildings in victoria are constructed with dis rock 34. Anse possession is de place where de french staked there claim to de island in 1768  35. grand fond is de highest point on de island at de 430m dat is all de interestin facts for today. tomorrow we go to la digue where i will show you de picture of my sister, yes der are many more interestin facts on de coconauts webbie. de coconauts is de most laid back team around here. you join us? Whistlin Jack sure has an interesting "accent". Rudi, I would imagine that it's way too early considering if the Seychelles Immigration Office is open. Strange day though, eh? Not really.... we have a new govt.. and it is only 1 generation removed from the cavemen.... their knuckles are still dragging on the ground.  |

Whistlin Jack sure has an interesting "accent". I think we sound strange to Whistlin. From what I can make out he speaks creole and pidgin english mixed with a bit of half cut (pissed) Up another two places yesterday!  As for emigrating to the Seychelles a 3 month tourist visa is free and is issued on entry to the Seychelles. There is a $40 Departure Tax ( seems a bit high)which is included in the price of your ticket. If you only stay one day it's only $10. Other visa's are available such as a residency visa, but you have to have a relative living in the Seychelles. A work visa is also available, I have the costs around here somewhere. I will include them in the next post. Still no sign of Rob  |
