Hi Bill --
The forum is the Midwest Homebrewing and Winemaking Supplies forum which is where I spend a lot of the time that I am not here in the WCG forums lurking. The thread was entitled "Adding HTML Links". My post was about the fifth one down. The home page for the Midwest forums is http://www.brew-wineforum.com/default.aspx. I remember that you posted in there when you initially set up the HOMEBREWERS team. Hope you've made yourself a good seasonal beer to enjoy for the holidays. Since I have been laid up the past five or six weeks, brewing is on hold (as is enjoying the product) for a bit here. Hopefully, I can get all of this behind me early in the year and get back to it. I am pretty anxious to try out a new aerator I bought from Northern Brewer. It is an aquarium pump fitted out with an in-line HEPA filter. Hopefully it should provide the oxygen those little yeastie guys need to get a quick start next time I brew. I am amazed at all that I have learned participating in the Midwest Homebrewing and Winemaking forums. There are a few guys over there that really know a lot about making beer that share their knowledge. My procedures have changed enough that I am going to take pictures while I brew my next batch and update my brewing blog to show the changes. |

Test.
I've tried posting a reply to Dave's post TWICE now, and I'm not going to write it all out again until I know this is working. Bill Velek |

Okay. Now that I know this is working again, here goes ... for the 3rd time.
Yes, I finally found your post and signature. Thanks. Next, I haven't brewed a batch of beer since September or October; been too busy. In fact, I have 25 gallons (5 x 5-gallon buckets of frozen watermelon juice/pulp in my freezer to make watermelon wine. I've made wine just a few times, but my son knows a lot more than I do about that. I've been doing some research on the Internet, too. Hopefully I'll be able to get around to it pretty soon. Merry Christmas. Bill Velek |

Hi Guys,
Just popped up to say hi on the forum. Got another PC connected to the grid (linux this time), and also have a newer PC at work, so hopefully lots more crunching time to be added from me! I will also bump up the message from Bill on AussieHomeBrewer to see if we can pick up a few new members. Cheers Rob |

Had to share this -- my best batch yet, a SNPA clone (nice to have a brewery that sells glassware with your name on it -- LOL):

The following was copied from a thread that a new member of yor team started. I have locked that thread to keep with the one thread per team rule.
Hey Guys, Just joined the Homebrewers. Have an IPA and Porter in the fridge and planning a Bock shortly. I have 2 computers working part time on this. Hope I can help boost our rankings. Where can you find overall rankings Cheers TwoBrewers |

Hey Guys, Just joined the Homebrewers. Have an IPA and Porter in the fridge and planning a Bock shortly. I have 2 computers working part time on this. Hope I can help boost our rankings. Where can you find overall rankings Cheers TwoBrewers To find out how all teams are doing and to be able to compare different teams, go to 'Statistics' on the top menu bar, and then click on 'By Teams' on the list on the left side of the page. Then under the section 'Team Statistics', select how you want the teams sorted. Most of us look at 'Points Generated' -- 'All Time'. Since our HomeBrewers team is currently ranked 1125, you would go to page 23 (with each page holding 50 teams), to see teams 1101 through 1150 and who we just passed and who we are getting ready to pass You can also select 'Multiple Team Comparison', but then you need to know the names of the other teams you want to view. Here are some examples:#1 -- #2 -- #3 -- #4 To find names of teams that might interest you, go to 'Statistics' - 'By Teams' - and click on 'Teams Created' to go to a search window that will look for key words in either the name or the team description. I hope this helps, and welcome to our team. We are actually doing awesome for such a young group. As for brewing, I don't have anything fermenting right now. Been too busy. But I hope to start back in the next month or two, plus I'm planning to plant some hops for the first time. I did have a nice IPA last night at a brewpub where my two sons played in a rock band. On December 21st, I posted this:
Our goal now is to catch the "MillerTime" team as quickly as possible ... snip ... They have a 364 day headstart with a lead of 301,457 points, but we are going to try to catch them by the end of January, ... Well, we almost made our goal. As of last night, January 31st, we ranked as follows: ~ Team Size: #253 (with 33 active members, and 1 retired) ~ Total Run Time: #977 -- beating MillerTime's ranking of #1,043 ~ Points Generated: #1,024 -- NOT beating MillerTime's ranking of #930 ~ Results Returned: #922 -- beating MillerTime's ranking of #1,159 In just 40 days, we managed to reduce MillerTime's lead from 301,457 points down to 55,648. 'Points Generated' is the category that counts, and while we didn't beat MillerTime by the end of January as hoped, based on stats for the past week, we should pass them within the next five days -- and I'm hoping it's just four days since we have five new members who haven't even posted any points yet. HomeBrewers, we can be very proud because in just 71 days of existence, we have made it to the top 11% of teams, with most of them having a huge headstart on us to boot -- and in the next couple of days we should make it into the top 1,000 teams. GREAT JOB!!!Now for our NEW goal. The U.S.Army Team has a two day head start but we still managed to pass them and then stay ahead for quite some time; well, I couldn't leave well enough alone so I posted several taunting messages on the Army Knowledge Online forums (I have access because I'm in the Army Reserve). I like to think that I helped 'fire them up' because they came back with a vengeance and are now 69,675 points ahead of us. However, the good news is that we are once again gaining on them, and based on our daily average for the past week, we should pass them in 30 days -- but let's really try to recruit one more member so that we can reduce that down to 28 days and meet our goal by the end of this month. Also, keep in mind that the Army has 13 members as of today, and that we need to keep pace with them, recruiting a new member each time they do.After we beat the panties off of the Army, THEN we'll take on the US Navy ... because ... "HomeBrewer's are a force to be reckoned with". Our daily average this week was 1,292 points higher than the Navy's, and we're going to keep boosting that up even more. And to all non-HomeBrewers out there ... well now ... THAT is how it's done. Cheers. Bill Velek, Team Captain |
