Re: Anime Addicts Against AIDS

Last Saturday my Shu-chan and I attended the first meeting of an anime club they're trying to form here in our town. We re-realized a few things:
- we are old
- high school girls are bothersome
- people are very disorganized

They'll be lucky if they can keep this club going for more than a few meetings. We'll all be lucky if the girl who appointed herself a president of sorts and I don't have a major personality conflict. A few bad points having been stated, we're not going to give up on it just yet because if my Shu-chan and I have anything at all to say about it, it could be rather cool. They've made previous attempts at getting a club started in our town, but they've never lasted. I guess we'll just have to see what the future brings for this fledgling group.

Re: Anime Addicts Against AIDS

Oh yes. I understand perfectly about getting "the business". Only here it's the gas company doling it out. I cannot fathom how a house as small as ours can cost $200-300 a month for heating in the winter. It's just outrageous.

I haven't been watching as much anime as I had been previously. (Actually I haven't been doing much of ANYTHING lately.) However, my Shu-chan and I made up for this by watching "Moon Child" again Saturday night. There's nothing like a little Gackt and Hyde to bring the spark of Japanese goodness back into your life.

I see you put the team web site on the team page! Cool!
I've been watching Super Gals again. I got the 2nd season box set, but I need to watch the first season first. Actually, since I was one of the first 600 to preorder the 2nd season, my name is in the credits! Look for me if you ever watch it.

Hey yea! I didn't even notice! lol Go me : ) But, dude, you're crunching like mad! That's awesome!

Speaking of the team page, I've been contemplating adding a page for live action Asian films. Before I do I'd like to have a decent collection of them. Any suggestions? Off the top of my head I'm thinking:
Moon Child
Saving Face
The Joy Luck Club
Hero
Farewell My Concubine (My Shu-chan and I watched this last night. Holy wow I hate Chinese opera, but man was that a crazy movie!)
etc.

Lastly, there's a new bit of fanart over on my homepage:

Wow, that almost looks like a photo! Awesome!
I realized something recently: I never looked on YouTube in my search for Misia! I don't know why it didn't occur to me, but there's SO much stuff there!
My crunching is powered by a 24/7 dual core processor! Plus, I think I'll be running my OTHER dual core computer more than before!

Yay! I have 1,000,000 points! Also, over a year of runtime!
Asian movies: There's a Korean film called "Volcano High." (The English dub features rappers, so watch it subtitled unless that's your thing.) It's ok, nothing to dedicate your life to, but pretty funny at times. Have you ever seen "House of Flying Daggers?" That's good. I also like "Shaolin Soccer" and "Kung Fu Hustle." My fiancée and I have "Curse of the Golden Flower" and "Train Man (Densha Otoko)," but we haven't watched them yet.

Re: Anime Addicts Against AIDS

I love anime. I already belong to another team but I would like to pick your brains.

I'm currently watching Trinity Blood. I love this series and I'm looking for recommendations for what to watch next.

Other favorites are Big O (haven't been able to get hold of second series yet), Witch Hunter Robin, Cowboy Be-bop, Ghost in the Shell (of course) and Wolf Rain. Also loved Helsing.

I sort of liked Tri-gun and can get into Inuyasha if I'm in the right mood.

Twilyth -

Well, we have a few favorites in common (Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain and the bit I've seen on Ghost in the Shell I've liked okay) so mayhap you'd enjoy some of my other favorites. Let's see...

-Serial Experiments Lain (From what info I've gathered from others, I'm the only one I know who could actually follow this series and know what was going on. Except for the alien. I'm still baffled by the alien. But, many still enjoy it regardless of its ability to cunfuzzle.)
-Boogiepop Phantom (I'm presently re-watching this series for my second time and I'm actually starting to understand what's going on. So, while you may be confused as hell the first time 'round, give it a chance.)
-Last Exile (May be more up your alley since you seem to mostly be a straight forward story line and plot sort of a person.)
-Neon Genesis Evangelion (A HUGE favorite with most anime fans. You probably can't go wrong with it even if you've never watched mech anime before.)
-Gundam Wing (Though there are countless spinoffs, this anime has an ENORMOUS fan base. Also a mech anime.)
-Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X (Also quite possibly up your alley if you're in the mood for Inuyasha because it's way the hell better than Inuyasha yet also an action anime. I personally despise Inuyasha because I've been force fed it too many times.)
-Kadocha (This is definitely a just for fun anime full of wacky hijinks. Insanely amusing.)

Sorry I haven't posted in so long! Holy wow have we been busy! My Shu-chan and I have hijacked quite a lot of responsibility from the anime club. We're presently fully responsible for the newsletter, PR campaign, and loving up our sponsors. Things could be going better, but at least the things we've swiped for ourselves are turning out very well : )

In addition to that we were re-enacters at an 18th century encampment this past weekend and had to cram to get my outfit finished. I'm pleased to say there was only one guy there who was higher up the class list than I was! (We set out to cross dress me as a very high class merchant who had purchased her - a costly concubine - for the weekend.)

Well, on to the actual reply lol

I haven't watched "Valcano High" I'll have to add that to my list (definitely in subtitles because I'm not into rappers.)
I have watched "House of Flying Daggers" and liked it, but not as much as "Hero".
I haven't watched either "Shaolin Soccer" or "Kung Fu Hustle" but my Shu-chan and I nearly rented the latter while at Blockbuster the last time. I'll have to be sure to actually get it next time!
I've been pondering "Curse of the Golden Flower", let me know if it's any good?
I've never even heard of "Train Man", I'll have to go look that one up.

Now, for a bit of anime news that's been dug up for our club newsletter. Disney has a live action film in the works for theaters in 2008; "Kiki's Delivery Service"! It hasn't been finalized yet but, Jeff Stockwell, is working on the screenplay.
