Re: Anime Addicts Against AIDS

garooob:

No, there aren't any rules for the team. You don't even have to like anime : ) We accept any and all who'd like to join : ) Anime (manga, asian-pop, asian-rock etc. also!) is just a common bond.

Also, you don't 'only' have to run the FightAIDS@Home project. I first joined the FightAIDS@Home when it was run by the Scripps Research Institue, before they joined the WCG. When the WCG took on the AIDS project I originally ran only the AIDS project. This is why the team name specifies AIDS.

I currently have all projects selected. I figure all work is good work!

Re: Anime Addicts Against AIDS

52 results for me! Only 25 with AAAA, though. Too bad it took me so long to join the team!
I want to build a new computer, but I've started playing paintball, so that's taking up all my money.
So, Eiri, or anyone else that's here, what anime/manga/Jstuff do you like? I'm partial to Miyazaki (esp. Mononoke-Hime and Sen to Chihiro), FLCL and a lot of older anime released by Pioneer (Tenchi Muyo!, El-Hazard, Green Legend Ran). As for manga, I like Rumiko Takahashi and various shoujo manga.
Anyone ever been to Japan? I have. In fact, I met my financé there! (No, she's not Japanese.)

Re: Anime Addicts Against AIDS

Lets see... current stats:
points - 133813
results - 385
days of runtime - 262+
These would be much better but, until this July I was running on an eight year old computer... In July we bought a new computer and whoohoo! the results are just rolling long! For example, 85025 of the points and 299 of the results have been with the new computer and it has only run 103+ days.

To respond to the rest of your post:
Anime - personal series favorites are "Cowboy Bebop", "Serial Experiments Lain", "Neon Genisis Evangelion", "Wolf's Rain", "Last Exile", "Boogiepop Phantom" (I'm also getting reaquainted with old favorites of my "Voltron" and "ThunderCats" which have been revived recently!)
As for Miyzaki, I like "Spirited Away", "Howls Moving Castle" and "My Neighbor Totoro" but, I didn't like "Porko Roso", "Pom Poko", or "Nausicaa". "Mononoke" was okay. (I think that's all of his I've seen...)
Manga - personal favorites are "Gravitation", "Antique Bakery" (pretty much a yaoi addict), "Yatsubato", "Azumanga Diaho".
Jmusic - Anything by Yoko Kanno. L'arc En Ceil, Hyde, Gackt, and Dir en grey. I'm currently INSANELY geeked that my Shu-chan and I will be going to see Dir en grey in concert in Feb!!

I've never been to Japan but, its deffinately on my list of countries to visit! How did you manage to meet your fiance there?

Re: Anime Addicts Against AIDS

Nice, there's a site now! I like it.
I met my fiancé on an exchange program we were both on in Japan. We weren't from the same college, but we kept in touch. I moved to Phoenix, AZ after college, which was ok for a job, but not much else. FINALLY, I just moved to Illinois, where she is, so we can get married!
The Nausicaa manga is so much better than the anime. I can't stress that enough.
As for Jmusic, I like the pillows (because they're featured in FLCL), KOTOKO, Puffy (AmiYumi) and other random stuff. I saw Puffy back in Phoenix last year. Cool that you're getting to see Dir en grey!

Sure, you can add them. There's plenty more where that came from!

Re: Anime Addicts Against AIDS

Well, this BOINC problem has put a damper on my work... I reinstalled the UD agent. Hopefully this will get cleared up soon! I know how difficult it can be to fix a computer. I've got parts for a new computer arriving next week, so watch out! This Core 2 Duo E6600 is going to rock out some results in the name of anime!
I just read Paradise Kiss (at the request of my fiancé) and thought it was pretty good. Now I'm reading Escaflowne and it's not that great. The anime was good, though.

Re: Anime Addicts Against AIDS

I haven't read it. I've watched the first part of the Escaflowne series and liked it. I watched the Escaflowne movie and didn't like it.

I've been consuming copious amounts of anime lately. I watched the entire Iria series and thought it was alright. I watched Rahxephon the movie and thought it was jumbled as heck (it was like Evangelion's ending) though liked it well enough that I would like to watch the series. I watched episodes 8-13 of Fushigi Yugi and like it so far. I also watched the first about ten episodes of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and like it well enough to finish off the series.

I haven't read anything new lately. I'll have to add Paradise Kiss to my "to read" list.
