Thank you Hans for pointing out the glimmer of hope. I'll try to be more positive.

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

I was pleasantly surprised to get an email from the project about a 20 year anniversary of WCG. I'm assuming I got this email because I've made monetary donations to the project.

Hopefully celebrating a milestone like this will draw attention and funds for the future.

ARP TASKS NOW AS OF 11:56 Gmt
I guessed it was either new ARP work, or new OPNG work, because i noticed lots of "transient HTTP error" in the BOINC log, when downloading MCM1 tasks. smile

However I'm waiting for OPNG tasks, I'll leave ARP for others to crunch.

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

Nice to see ARP is back unfortunately so is the log jam...

It's to bad WCG can't put a download limit of 2 or 3 WUs to slow down the crunch on the servers.

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

while there are definitely download problems, I'm very happy to see that it hasn't crashed or even lagged the forums like in the past. We seem to have a more robust system now.
As long as I can download 2 to run on my system every 15 hours, I'm good, for now. I'm getting a new system for Christmas, so I can't wait to test ARP on the new system.
Mike, are you going to do weekly ARP status reports again?

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

Hi, Unixchick

Yes, I will record the data on Sunday as new base data and then issue a weekly report each following Sunday.

It will take 5 reports before I have built up enough to start progressing averages.

Mike

What are you getting, if you don't mind us asking?

Non necessarily coincidentally, but students will be turning on a new system tomorrow that is somewhat purposely built for running ARP1. It will shine at running a few tasks at once (ARP1 and E@H) versus our other multi-threaded systems. It took us about a year to get everything we needed for it, so let's hope it turns on... They have to add the GPU and install one more fan.

They will also be retiring an older system that has seen better years. Should be an interesting day for the students!

Sorry if this was off topic.
