As at the time of posting this, I've only received 50 tasks [post-restart] over a period where I'd usually expect to receive getting on for 200. All those tasks are retries, and 5 of them have been Server Aborted within 90 minutes of receipt, so it's a bit difficult to be productive at present :-(
----------------------------------------I suspect there were a lot of near-deadline tasks unable to upload and report because of that 24+ hour outage, and without a grace day they'll all cause retries to be posted... Also, the mechanism in place to manage new work being released might have been confused by the outage. I wonder how some of the big hitters are getting on at present :-) Cheers - Al. P.S. I think the validators are struggling to keep up with the mass influx of results; it'll be interesting to see how long they take to catch up! I do not see any increase in my pending validation queue, but that is because even though I got a some new work units, the supply of any work units either retries or original seems to have dried up completely. If that is the case, the validators will certainly use the break to catch up. Cheers

Hehe, all I'm getting is _2 and _3 resends, and most of them are being "Server Aborted" when they are finally turned in by the "original" cruncher .

Yes, new work is starting to come in now. I was getting enough resends, to keep my computers well fed though.

Yes, new work is starting to come in now. I was getting enough resends, to keep my computers well fed though. Yes, there were a lot of retries, I suspect, not that I saw many of them -- under 100 in the 18 or so hours before new work started to show up (and I normally turn over about 700..750 MCM1 jobs a day...)By the way, I have no complaints about most of the retries being cleared out first, whether by accident or design :-) -- if new work issue was suspended at first the validators would have had an easier time dealing with the "overload" (especially of near-deadline returns) likely after the scheduler first restarted. About 50% of my returned tasks got stuck with my wingman also waiting to validate, but those had all cleared out well before today's new work started to appear! Hopefully the BOINC side will now see a return to the reasonable service of the previous couple of months. Sadly, I'm not so optimistic about the non-BOINC stuff :-( Cheers - Al. |

Bumping this thread up again. I'm not sure if this thread is still needed. The project is stable with only one project, MCM. I thought this thread was useful to gather information from other threads and keep the updates in one place. A homemade status page. We are getting no info, no updates now. We thought we were getting little information before...hahaha.
The flow of MCM is large, so I don't think they have any reason to talk to us. The project is getting done. They are happy. The people doing MCM are happy. It is just the handful of people who are still on the boards who want more. |
