WCG had database issues, and they are on the way to fixing many of the problems that happened, but they aren't all fixed yet. I'll guess that the system will catch up tomorrow.

Yeah, and it'll be probably be fixed by monday. Note there is no week, month or year mentioned,..
----------------------------------------I can't really understand how they can be so callous that they can't post updates to the forum. Post on Musks cesspit are invisible without an account, and Facebook isn't much better. [Edit 2 times, last edit by thunder7 at Oct 18, 2023 6:42:24 AM] |

Honestly, considering how flaky the forums are these days, even that probably wouldn't be very useful.

Sometimes, I presume, they cannot post on the forum because the forum is not up. Hard to get info out there to the world.
I don't do Facebook or X or Instagram or Tic Tok or Tic Tac or whatever the next flavour might be. So yes it is quite invisible without an account. One solution is to put the forum somewhere other than their datacentre which seems to be like a yoyo: up and down. There are forums out there which are are hardly ever down. And yes, I know, the plural of forum is fora from the Latin. |

They should post their info on the BOINC board. It's has an uptime of almost 100%. If it goes down, it goes down for just minutes for backups and such.
----------------------------------------They could for example post on this thread, which is used only for WCG issues: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=14949 [Edit 1 times, last edit by Grumpy Swede at Oct 18, 2023 5:34:39 PM] |

Yeah, and it'll be probably be fixed by monday. Note there is no week, month or year mentioned,.. To read the post eventually/possibly made by WCG Towers, you do not need to have a FB account to read it on FB. Just close the FB Login prompt and you can see the posts just fine.I can't really understand how they can be so callous that they can't post updates to the forum. Post on Musks cesspit are invisible without an account, and Facebook isn't much better. People are sometimes just far too complicated. But that still leaves us with the problem that WCG for the last two years isn't quite a stellar example for communication in the first place. If they do not follow up with posts on FB/X, how do you expect them to update in just another place? Ralf |

Hello.
Happy to finally find other testimonies of "no WU" since some days. I first belived it came from my BOINC client and perform a full clean+re-install of it. It first started grabbing 3 or 4 MCM WUs, but since no new WU. I agree with BobbyB as far as Facebook or X are concerned : I'm an "asocial networker" and don't use these #@!*&... Then, no chance to get up-to-date pieces of information from WCG. And I wonder why they don't use "Notifications" facility in BOINC client. I'm gonna follow this post for this time, and will tell the community as soon as I'll get WUs again. Have a good day ! |

They should post their info on the BOINC board. It's has an uptime of almost 100%. If it goes down, it goes down for just minutes for backups and such. No, they should have a server status page like every other BOINC project. That would always tell us wether there are tasks available for the projects we crunch and even if the database is down, we can at least see that everything is f***ed up and we shouldn't expect any new tasks until it's fixed. A SSP works as long as their servers aren't completely down and displays all the information we need automatically. It is really annoying not to have it here and need to spend time on checking the forums.![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Link64 at Oct 19, 2023 12:24:36 PM] |
