think you're missing the point here. The question was how much the constant retries using automated scripts are worsening the current download situation. The only way to fix this is for Krembil to finally get their XXXX together... Would it be possible to keep these conversations family friendly ? Right off the bat I would have put the word "act" in there. I fully understand your frustration, but I heard enough coarse language in my career to last me a couple of lifetimes. Thank you for your consideration. Cheers

IMO ,I think one of the pencil pushers at kembril accepted a job that is well beyond their capabilities not knowing how big the job was. It's taking too long to fix.

they said it will be done with the move by end of April... True, but they didn't say which year that was. I'm beginning to suspect they meant April 2023 or even April 2024, and not April 2022. |

I've been getting around the 'transient HTTP error' problem by loading up 5 days of MCM1 work every 5 days. I have only one machine running so it's not too much of a hassle to repeatedly hit the retry button until all work is downloaded. My other two WCG machines are running Folding@Home.

My other two WCG machines are running Folding@Home. If Krembil can't be bothered to get problems fixed quickly then they don't deserve getting completed results quickly. I have my machines running F@H since the start of the migration. I won't be back until all is running 110% including stats and all, if i return at all. But i'm not 100% convinced they will ever get to that point. The time it took to come to the current state and the lack of progress makes me feel wcg will never be back as it once was. To me it feels like there is a complete lack of commitment and resources necessary to run a project as wcg. I think they started with the right intentions but this could be very well the beginning of the end. I have also seen a lot of members walking away but i don't know the numbers well enough to conclude what percentage has left to date. This has all the red flags of many other projects i have seen fail and shutdown in the 35 years i'm now working in the IT industry. But since they keep us in the dark about many details, i could be wrong and evverything will run fine next week, who knows. There is also a lack of updates from the researchers, and i wouldn't be surprised if OPN is looking for a new and more reliable partner behind the scenes. Sometimes i wonder is this why MIP left, did they know about wcg being dropped by IBM? But i still hope they prove me wrong. |

How so? Did MIP turn up somewhere else after it was stopped?] To my knowledge MIP didn't stop. They stopped using wcg but continued using an inhouse solution not using public computers. [Edit 1 times, last edit by tvdsluis at Sep 23, 2022 1:46:43 PM] |

Well, something got changed (I am careful at this point not to say "fixed", as that might jinx it), but since late last night and during the night, those download problems have all but disappeared.

It was "fixed" a few times in the past too. And then Krembil re-introduced the download problems again. Multiple times.
