At least the website is back up even if it is slooooow. As of yet they have not started uploads or released any new work units.

Yup, it's so slow it might've been better if they'd waited a bit to actually open up to the outside world again:
By the way, they posted a tweet at about 21:10 UTC today which said The website is back online, but the recovery process continues. As a result, not all functionality is available. Until we can restart BOINC and the database, stats/contributions are not accurate. We will provide further updates as we progress. Thank you for your patience. So now we wait...Cheers - Al. |

Yup, it's so slow it might've been better if they'd waited a bit to actually open up to the outside world again: Well, just got back into the office after seeing their FB post 5min after they posted it.By the way, they posted a tweet at about 21:10 UTC today which said The website is back online, but the recovery process continues. As a result, not all functionality is available. Until we can restart BOINC and the database, stats/contributions are not accurate. We will provide further updates as we progress. Thank you for your patience. So now we wait...Cheers - Al. Web site and forum seem to be reasonable fast, don't notice any slow down, but no communications with the BOINC clients, no uploads, no reports, let alone any WUs. Would be nice to get some ETA when this is supposed to start working again, so it would be possible to start winding down those temporary replacement projects.... Ralf |

Forums are very snappy for me as of now. Of course I'm one of 11 members here + an indeterminate number of guests so...

1. It'd be really nice if WCG could separate their website and forums from the actual BOINC storage pool and servers, so that there isn't a single point of failure outage. I'm curious what their current architecture actually looks like -- like specs of all physical servers now and short-term future.
----------------------------------------2. I've been following the Twitter updates, but it seems like this is all using temporary loaner hardware from the datacenter team? Like the RAID controller failed and they moved to temporary servers and storage? Is that correct? If so, then won't there have to be yet another migration once the replacement parts arrive for the original servers? I'm just really in the dark here. In an enterprise setting, this kind of total outage would be a showstopper, all hands on deck, 24/7, Sev 1/P1 type incident. What I'm seeing is this is treated like a Sev 4/P4 type incident where staff can just get around to things during weekday business hours at their leisure. I wish Krembil provided Jurisica Lab with more dedicated IT resources (hardware + people).
