It is frustrating when the there is an outage and new jobs cannot be received and completed jobs cannot be returned. But, it is even more frustrating when there is not a single notice or communication from Kembril to inform users of the status of their system. It is easier to be understanding when information is shared.

It probably isn't realistic to expect any BOINC system to add capacity just to handle the aftermath of major unplanned outages (though some folks may think otherwise)... System and throughput sizing are as much an art as a skill. An old rule of thumb stated you needed to size a system at 200% of the average throughput. The feeling was this would accommodate upwards of 90% of any surges. Generally speaking occurrences of greater volumes would be so few an and far between that it would not be cost effective to size any bigger. The exception to this would be if any disruption to your throughput would be catastrophic to your business, you would size to 99% availability level if you could afford the cost. There was always a lot thought and sweat that went into these decisions. It is virtually impossible to have 100% availability of any resource, but with proper evaluation of the relevant factors, you can come close. Cheers

Well, fact is that one cannot work like this.
I will no longer try to download tasks for a while - it simply takes too much time and effort. |

Well, that is true. However, the is a page on FACEBOOK and another page on TWITTER where website status is posted. Links are near the bottom of WCGs homepage.
I took the liberty a while ago to go to those pages and bookmark therm so I could go there if the need arose. |

Well, this download problem will solve itself, if Krembil jut continue to wait, doing nothing. The more people that leave the project, the easier it will be to get work.
That's a solution of course, although not a very good one. |

But apparently it Is the solution Krembil is working (or not working...) towards, as shown by their complete unwillingness to solve the issues, and total unwillingness Tot at least communicate with the volunteers.
Apparently, volunteers are unwanted and not needed by Krenbil. |

Ah well, getting tasks is no big problem. The big problem is getting them downloaded. Downloading the tasks, is like swimming up the Niagara Falls.

Mostly/Only resends now when it comes to OPNG tasks at least. Resends for "No Reply" tasks, originally sent on September 7.
----------------------------------------That probably means that there is no "new" tasks for OPNG ready to send, which will likely make downloads easier to get through, unless of course there's a batch of ARP1 tasks ready to send, which will make downloads even more problematic. this is getting fun to watch unfold.
getting a free autoclicker to press "retry now' every 60 seconds solves the issue for my PCs but not for mobile... |
