Re: Workunits are being sent out

And another batch of OPNG tasks just started flowing in. Also I noticed the post about ARP1 validator seems to have gone on vacation. It's not the only validator on vacation. I have several OPN1, OPNG, and MCM1 tasks that is waiting for the validator to come back to work. Newly finished _0 OPNG tasks with no wingman, isn't touched by the validator either.

Wakey, wakey Mr Validator. smile

Re: Workunits are being sent out

The thread Grumpy Swede mentioned is presumably this one .

I can confirm that the "multiple Pending Validation items and nothing else" situation that has been troubling ARP1 for days now has just started to appear for MCM1 and OPN1 (I didn't get any of the latest batch of OPNG so have no first-hand experience...)

There were no such problems with any results I returned before today, and only a small number of problem results so far today...

Of course, it remains to be seen whether the units stay stuck in that state for several days, as has been the case for ARP1. And unless someone is turning validators off or severely restricting their run parameters, this is looking more and more like a transitioner issue...

Cheers - Al.

Re: Workunits are being sent out

No problems at all with validation of OPN, OPNG or MCM. I have opted out of ARP so can't comment.

All seems to be almost there apart from Stats.

Re: Workunits are being sent out

In my overview, the last result returned is February 21, 2022.

I had mentioned that I was having a problem with getting a download. I finally got the downloads, but although I have some Valid results the latest result returned is listed as February 21, 2022.

I understand there are problems with the transition to Toronto.

Answering my own point...

It appears that the validation delay on my "stalled" MCM1 and OPN1 tasks was under 8 hours so that's nowhere near as bad as for ARP1...

However, I still haven't seen an ARP1 task validate since early 26th August unless it happened to be first issued before about mid-day (UTC) on 25th August. It'll be interesting to see if these later units will start to disappear 6 days after they stalled, as that's likely to be how long the transitioner inactivity check period for these is likely to be...

Cheers - Al.

Here is example of OPNG_0155031_00149 with 2 replications where one is with status Pending Verification and another one Pending Validation.

Re: Workunits are being sent out

one is with status Pending Verification and another one Pending Validation.

can anyone explain to me the difference between Verification and Validation, in technical terms?
I have been wondering all time long ...

Al, I don't know if it counts. biggrin Today arrived a Valid ARP1-result that was first issued 59 minutes after mid-day (UTC) on 25 August, I'd say:

workunit 155113055
ARP1_0030963_128_0  Debian GNU/L  Valid  2022-08-25T12:59:15  2022-08-30T14:41:05   18.72/20.15   1097.3/1097.3
ARP1_0030963_128_1 Linux Ubuntu Valid 2022-08-26T04:24:39 2022-09-01T21:54:27 53.10/53.16 1667.1/1097.3
ARP1_0030963_128_2 Fedora Linux Valid 2022-09-01T05:52:03 2022-09-01T18:37:14 10.84/10.91 690.2/1097.3

The task on my computer was received because of a No Reply situation.

And here's the news: it was validated on … "1662091484", that's in seconds since the Unix epoch, so:
$ LC_TIME=en_NZ date -d@1662091484 -u
Fri Sep 2 04:04:44 UTC 2022

EDIT: Two more coming in …
workunit 155113814

They validated on 1662114270 and on 1662115791, respectively, that's:
$ LC_TIME=en_NZ date -d@1662114270 -u
Fri Sep 2 10:24:30 UTC 2022
$ LC_TIME=en_NZ date -d@1662115791 -u
Fri Sep 2 10:49:51 UTC 2022

Still, the workunits with only two tasks, both Pending Validation, aren't moving.
And I'm seeing only resends, I'm not seeing any new ARP1-tasks showing up.

Re: Workunits are being sent out

Adri.

Mark (MJH333) noted another curiousity in the "Validator not running...or something else?" thread in the ARP forum. Looks like transitioner issues (as noted there), which would also explain why even retries for ARP1 are in short supply...

As for why it seems to have less trouble freeing up WUs with non-success results than those with a simple quorum of successes, I suspect that's if there is a heavy load on the transitioner(s) that will be down to the transitioner self-defence mechanism (see that thread...)

Cheers - Al.

Re: Workunits are being sent out

Thanks for the clarification, Al.

I've discovered one more 'type' of temporary workunit outcome, not seen before in this month wink … beside single and double, there are now those with triple Pending Validation: biggrin

From page 1/6 of all ARP1-tasks with status ’P’ on all of your devices:
