Re: GPU Work has resumed

One of the "huge" WU's on my iGPU HD 4600. 259 "jobs", took 5 Hours, 38 Minutes, and 55 seconds. Only 935.6 credit. A "normal" WU, on the iGPU, takes 35-50 minutes, and gets 500-700 in credit. Not good at all, and the credit calculations on spent time, need to be worked on.

The new website has a 'download' icon beside the filter control. That gets you a full csv file of all recent tasks in the history - including time and credit. We could draw some pretty pictures with that.

Edit - something like

(Linux machine, two identical GTX 1660 Ti, shows credit per hour by batch)

Re: GPU Work has resumed

It's been totally dry here, for a couple of hours now. Cache empty, GPU fans turned off... sad

Edit: And as usual, a few minutes after I write about it, I get a refill. This time 15 tasks.

Just dump 50 WUs here when I posted before.

Re: GPU Work has resumed

I started up two "racks" due to cooler weather and got a mix of GPU tasks: NVidia and ATI.in the last 6 hours.
A single Ubuntu NVidia but 100+ for Windows
22 RX570 type for Ubuntu but only 3 RX570 type for Windows.
Strange mix.

Scatter plot show the improvement over the CPU work units.

One thing I've noticed about recent GPU tasks is that they spend less time in CPU mode (the Autogrid phase, if I understand it). I haven't felt any need to try running two tasks on the GPU, since the pipeline can't quite keep up anyway, and I'm not sure there would be much benefit without the long CPU-only gaps. I did take a look at nvidia-smi updated every two seconds and noticed occasional dips in power consumption, so it might still help a bit to run two tasks, provided I had a solid long-term supply of work units to justify it.

I have noticed the same.
Whereas with the WUs before, the first 1.5-2 minutes were CPU only, now this initial period is about 10 seconds.
When I switched to 2 WUs per GPU on my host with a GTX980Ti, each WU took about 4.0 - 4.5 minutes, while with 1 WU per GPU the WU took about 2.0 - 2.5 minutes.
So no real gain by having run 2 WUs per GPU.

Re: GPU Work has resumed

Four WU's parallel without time lost during running.
Mostly only one WU.

Re: GPU Work has resumed

Well, I haven't seen any OPNG tasks for 7 hours. I wonder if this good run maybe is over, or if they maybe pulled the plug on creating GPU tasks again.

Re: GPU Work has resumed

I still receive OPNG-units, at the moment I have 12 of them in my queue. So they are still being distributed.
