will the GPU tasks work with Ampere cards? The reason why I am asking is that I will get 2 RTX3070 in the near future. is there really no-one who can answer my question?I’m no expert and cannot give a definitive answer but if they can’t run on “the most powerful end user card in production” then they won’t run at all. |

will the GPU tasks work with Ampere cards? The reason why I am asking is that I will get 2 RTX3070 in the near future. is there really no-one who can answer my question?these tasks are OpenCL, they work fine with Ampere and are not architecture dependent. my RTX 3070 has processed several tasks already without issue. If you're on Linux, just make sure you install the OpenCL drivers as they are not usually included in repository based driver installs (this is general advice for Nvidia/Linux systems, not specific to Ampere) The only reason GPUGRID doesn't work, is because their app is coded to check the architecture of the GPU, and the app was compiled with CUDA 10 which has no knowledge of what Ampere is, so it fails the architecture check and doesn't even attempt to process. they need to update their app with CUDA 11.1 and include the necessary Ampere gencodes to get proper Ampere support. thanks, Ian-n-Steve C., for the explanation. That's good news for me
So we just need to wait until WCG offers these GPU tasks on a more or less regular basis. |

I have tested with 3060Ti and 3070. Here is result for one task done with RTX 3070: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/...og.do?resultId=1618817758 [Edit 1 times, last edit by Greger at Apr 9, 2021 7:10:50 PM] |

I had asked this already some time ago, but got no answer:
why are there COVID-19 tasks available for Intel and AMD/ATI cards, but not for NVIDIA cards? When I try to fetch GPU tasks for my NVIDIA, the BOINC Manager shows the following information: 10.04.2021 13:14:00 | World Community Grid | Requesting new tasks for NVIDIA GPU 10.04.2021 13:14:01 | World Community Grid | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 10.04.2021 13:14:01 | World Community Grid | No tasks sent 10.04.2021 13:14:01 | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for OpenPandemics - COVID 19 10.04.2021 13:14:01 | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for OpenPandemics - COVID-19 - GPU 10.04.2021 13:14:01 | World Community Grid | Tasks for CPU are available, but your preferences are set to not accept them 10.04.2021 13:14:01 | World Community Grid | Tasks for AMD/ATI GPU are available, but your preferences are set to not accept them 10.04.2021 13:14:01 | World Community Grid | Tasks for Intel GPU are available, but your preferences are set to not accept them |
