Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

There is <verify_files_on_app_start/> in client_state.xml for rosetta at home
That sounds good. I thought something like that was done automatically. Apparently it is not and I don't see a way to set the option myself. Wouldn't hesitate to add some seconds to a task that runs for hours.

no wonder why it took like 10 seconds on every rosetta at home task to begin
Took? Older versions of the Rosetta app used to unpack a several hundred MB database for every task, maybe that was the reason.

Much ado about nothing IMHO. If the techs here thought there was even the remotest chance of issues it would have been dealt with a long long time ago.
I'm no friend of that "all is well if I don't think about it" attitude, I prefer to think for myself where I can. When it comes to computers I know enough to tell that the experts are not always right. Anyhow, I'm not going to continue here.

If your GPU is running on XP I don't think you will receive any work. AKAIK XP does not support OpenCL 1.2. I did some research for a friend and the last driver for XP with OpenCL support that I could find was 12.2 beta and it was OpenCl 1.1. Maybe someone else can chime in if I'm mistaken.

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

What is 12.2? I looked yesterday and nvidia introduced OpenCL 1.2 with driver 350.12 and I found driver 368.22 for XP. So the driver will support it. Whether XP itself does remains to be seen. As does whether the binary mods I did yesterday for the CPU work, and if that works, can the same be done for the GPU binary.

XP is OUT of support since 2014!!
So, why this doing to find a way for this OS.
It is not useful. Not only for Beta GPU.

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

Because it's the only rig I have running right now, and I would like to contribute to COVID research with it, if I am able to get it to with a few workarounds.
It would be useful to ME if I am able to do so.
If I can get it to work, it will work for production GPU work when it becomes available.
Why the complaining from you?
Am I keeping you from doing something?
I thought not.........................

12.2 is AMD driver. My bad. You’ll know if the Nvidia drivers works by restarting BOINC and looking at the log file. It will list the OpenCl version support and tell you if it found a usable GPU. Good luck.

I kinda guessed it was AMD. No worries.
I wouldn't have the GPU binary yet, would I?
I am guessing it will come with the first GPU work?
Or do I have it already? If so, what is the name of it?
