Since early or late completed WUs will be very probably validated, the PV queue length is not as important.
----------------------------------------If for a project, the wingmen need longer than you for reporting the made job, after a couple of days, you will see that your daily contribution is relatively stable with a stable PV queue. I do not see the real problem of a long PV queue for the members. For WCG it is another story, since the pending WUs have to be kept in the live database until the final status (valid, invalid, error) can be set. Keep it cool and be patient ! Yves --- PS: You can try to imagine how long the PV queue could be for members with short buffer contributing daily several hundreds CPU days ! ... |

I discover a large portion of my PV are consistently Android gadgets - yet that is on the grounds that WUs run such a great amount of longer on android gadgets because of absence of CPU force, or absence of cooling - or both at times. I concur that it's excessively - however it's not heavily influenced by you, nor the WCG group. It's everything on volunteers - if their gadgets are designed in a manner that produces mistakes - and on the off chance that they're crunching in a manner that doesn't hurt the matrix through postponing results. Back in May - I had a WU that took nearly 30 days to Validate due to such a significant number of prematurely ended/no answers.

I discover a large portion of my PV are consistently Android gadgets - I wonder if they take that into account in deciding which types of machines to support. Or at least it would make sense to have a separate validation que for them. I like to support projects that go all out for the science. If they need more memory, etc. I get it, rather than expect them to dumb down their requirements to suit my machines. Maybe it is worth the extra effort for them to support them all, but I am not convinced based on the results returned yet on some of the projects. I don't know how we can check it here though. |

Yes, I see what you mean. I've got a few Pending Validation like that, where both copies have been returned, but we're both still PV? e.g. https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/workunit/250354695
----------------------------------------There used to be a 'try validation' link to give these a nudge, but not any longer. |

Hi cz50975, I see your example has now validated. But none of mine has validated yet, where both copies returned and both PV. I'm sure it will catch up eventually.

Hi GB033533, yes I remember TRY VALIDATION button from the past. Mentioned WU waited in queue for validation more than 24H which is not usual.
----------------------------------------Majority of my today MCM WU uploads are in queue and waiting for validation without any reason. Pls check validation process. [Edit 1 times, last edit by cz50975 at Jan 24, 2023 3:01:17 PM] |

Well, all the odd double 'pending validation' results have now validated, some took 48 hours. Just normal PV results remain, waiting for the wingman, so all is fine again.

Looks like the validator issues are back. I'm seeing my number of pending validation WUs climb from around 1500-2000 normally to 3000 6 hours ago, and now up above 3600. Anyone else seeing similar?

There are many WUs (mind you, not individual tasks) in a state of Pending Validation, indeed.
----------------------------------------Example 1: workunit 259293311 MCM1_0195925_7771_0 Android P.Val 2023-02-04T00:53:32 2023-02-07T15:52:31 8.44/8.62 82.4/0.0 I counted 344 of these twofolds. Example 2: workunit 257510872 MCM1_0195822_5178_0 Linux Ubuntu P.Val 2023-02-01T15:38:50 2023-02-07T16:04:04 4.51/4.53 87.3/0.0 Currently I have 12 of these triplets. Of course I don't count WUs where wingmen are still In Progress (and my task is Pending Validation). [Edit 3 times, last edit by adriverhoef at Feb 7, 2023 7:28:02 PM] |
