Re: OpenPandemics - COVID 19 Beta Test April 20, 2020 [ Issues Thread ]

There is beta in the feeder now.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

I would say so! Six running on my main PC at the moment!

Make that 15 of 16 threads....and no, I didn't manually start them!

Aurum, Looks like they restarted with little loss in cpu time. Excellent!

Blade, Glad you were able to get plenty for testing :)

Thanks,

How many more of these reboot tests would you like?

However many you feel comfortable with. Since I know you're rebooting, I'll check out your results to see if any went to invalid or had issues. But just in case, keep me honest and make sure you're seeing valid results in the end for these. You'll get 100% credit for invalid and valid on beta.

Thanks,

Re: OpenPandemics - COVID 19 Beta Test April 20, 2020 [ Issues Thread ]

Running on XP 32bit, the task errors out with the "known": couldn't start app: CreateProcess() failed - (unknown error)

Is the beta executable compiled for Windows with the MajorSubsystemVersion set to 6 which means Vista is the oldest Windows OS that will work?

Please fix so even XP can run Covid-19. There are still millions of XP computers out there.

(Please, do not address the fact that I still run one computer on XP, I've already seen enough of those posts.)

Looks like the run times are going to vary a lot. I have 2 that have been running about 10 minutes. 1 is 50% done and 1 is 6% done.

Re: OpenPandemics - COVID 19 Beta Test April 20, 2020 [ Issues Thread ]

I have 4 Beta WUs. Needed to start them manually in the morning, other WUs were running.

After 17 minutes of runtime I restartet the computer. The WUs had different checkpoints, restarting with about 11, 12, 15, 16 minutes of runtime.

Hope, this informations helps....

Re: OpenPandemics - COVID 19 Beta Test April 20, 2020 [ Issues Thread ]

Just checked and got a pile of these on multiple machines, as well as an Android. The ones on the Android and one Linux machine completed in about the same amount of time. Other projects are running, but will play with checkpoints tomorrow assuming they are still there and see if all goes well.

Machines range from an Opteron 6128 to i7-4770. Majority Linux. Hopefully Windows grabs one.

Oh, take that back. Laptop just got 3. All are averaging 4% progress every 10 minutes. We'll see when they checkpoint and I'll shut down Boinc to see what happens.

Edit: A few tests done. Rebooted before checkpoint, rebooted after checkpoint, both on Windows and Linux. Nothing but the expected behavior and the checkpoint seemed to take just fine after the reboot with only seconds elapsed. Runtimes seem quite variable - some take just a few minutes it seems while others take hours, though it seems like 4 hours will be the most.

Memory sizes are right around 130-150 mb, perfect.

Several returned, one invalid, two valid and a whole slew of pending.

Everything looks normal on the invalid, guess your back end will tell you more. It's been sent out to four new machines so it may just be a bad work unit.

As mentioned previously, the estimated run times on these things is all over the map even though they all finish about the same time frame. Much faster than the 99997 units that ran for two days on my android. Looks like 4 hours will do it.
