Please post what your final number comes to. Well, surprise surprise, my trusty old 2012 laptop finished much quicker than the estimate: 16.88hrs (still pending validation though) https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/....do?workunitId=1376122533 I am wondering if the high amount of ram might have helped. Or maybe some WUs vary in the amount of work they require That is great news. Unlike you I just have 12G Ram on my ARP machine . Maybe paring down to to one thread magnified the affect. I hope you get another WU soon for the comparision. I have recently started getting extra memory for reconditioned computers, 16G for 4thread and 32 G for 8 thread machines. ![]() ![]() |

I have more machines available than just the server. Average run time on the server about 20 hours. 20hrs is impressive. I can't imagine 28 cores. I have 3 reconditioned desktops and 3-4 ancient laptops before they die and are replaced with reconditioned desktops which last longer and have more bang/$$$ The server never did get more than 12 running at any 1 time so the time numbers are probably skewed. It’s actually a dual socket board. 28c/56t running with HT disabled for ARP. Only run it for new projects/betas. Being retired I have to watch the electric bill.
In 1969 I took an oath to defend and protect the U S Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and Domestic. There was no expiration date.

Unlike you I just have 12G Ram on my ARP machine I only have 12gb ram as well. I think the fast result is a result of running Linux Mint on an all ssd rig with lots of ram, and the other cores being idle for the last 10 hrs. But I am only guessing. Wish I could get some more WUs to cross check! ![]() |

Being retired I have to watch the electric bill. I'll second that. Cheers

My apologies, I didn't mean to be rude by not responding to Keith's question in reply a few days ago, but I think the subsequent comments re-iterated my main point and I've not been around for a few days. Many thanks to Keith for your work, and to Sgt.Joe for seeing what I was driving at. I'm not going to push it any further, 'cos BOINC isn't going to get re-engineered any time soon.
(I do think it would be nice if column sorting in the client was a lot better, though. It should have two levels of sort, not just one, and clicking on a heading should rotate between up, down and none. The lack of 'none' is a pain as I then have to edit the control file ... And it's wacky to see everything suddenly change order just because something happened to add or remove a WU, or because I changed to 'active tasks' and back again.) But it's nice to have a reasonably steady flow of ARP1 WUs again. I can't wait for this project to step up a notch! |

Well the results have been validated. The Ubuntu 18.04 wingman took 37.67 hours compared my Mint 19's 16.88. Interesting as both based on Ubuntu kernel. My WU was awarded about 50% more points than claimed while the wingman earned correspondingly less.

I got my first randomized ARP on my "New" Reconditioned desktop. A i5 4690 3.5Ghz (Single thread Passmark 2218) with 16 G Ram AND a SSD. So another data point.
----------------------------------------Someone posted that the awarded points is the average of the two claimed points. Your machine is more than double the performance of your wingman. ![]() ![]() |

Same story past several days. This project is not sending out WUs. Either that or there's a mess of devices acting like zombies grabbing over each other at what ever comes out the shoot. |
