 I'm surprised to see how many importance some people give to the stats. Ok, we can admit that they are important for the challenge of the team, or for its own enjoyment, but.... What's the more important ? have good stats or help the research ? I'm sure the dev do what they can to repear the missing stats, so be patient, and stop crying for an half day who hasn't be counted. The Wu you did during this half day are more important for me for help the research |

Saphir12, the issue here (at least for me), isn't really about the stats - it's about INTEGRITY.
----------------------------------------If people see/experience anything that can put the whole integrity of what we're trying to do here (help scientists cure diseases/produce cheaper electricity etc.), then they may go elsewhere/stop contributing - all of which, will have a negative knock-on effect. After all, as far as I can see, there's only 2 things contributors/crunchers get out of this; 1) Knowing that they're contributing to science (and, as it takes so long before 'it all works through to seeing the end result', that we can only take the word of WCG that what we're doing is true and accurate - there have been issues with at least 1 other Distributed Computing project in the past, where WU's were recycled), and 2) Seeing the progress that's being made - both in terms of their own stats and the various project statistics. Thus, as this latter aspect, is (or should be - and usually is), updated twice daily, having integrity in the statistics IS important.  |

Yes, I'm seeing numbers for the 7th for me that are basically double what it has been showing. With half a day's data missing, that fits. So, the 7th looks okay. I'm a tad concerned that today's numbers are also abnormally high - by about 50 percent but not the same 50 percent as on the 7th. I haven't had a jailbreak - PVals are the same numbers as yesterday so any that got out have been replaced by new WUs from today. PVer is actually up from yesterday. I can't help but wonder if there is a connection with the import process (which may not be done). If I still see this after the EOD update tonight, then I'll be concerned. Right now, I just really can't explain it.
----------------------------------------As for the problem from the 7th, the real issue is what is going to be done to RCA the import failure, add proper monitoring so that the admins get notified of any future failures and are they going to fix the process so that the date/timestamps on the stats do NOT update if the import fails. |

Thanks armstrdj - hopefully you and your fellow techs, have now got to the root of what happened, and, as keithhenry says, will be able to put processes in place to prevent this issue from happening in the future.

Ok - it looks like the problem has been fixed for individual account totals but not for the teams totals -

Hi keithhenry, sorry if I 'painted a picture of a one sided coin' - it certainly wasn't my intention (in fact, over here in the UK, we've now got a 14 sided coin!!!!), as I realise that there are many more facets to WCG than the ones I painted (I was just trying to keep my post relatively short). After all, I actualy know the pressures Keith, Kevin, Jonathan et al are going through/are under - as I worked for IBM for over 12 years (and indeed, part of my pension is tied up in their long-term success). I also know about highly visible/critical systems, as the financial institution I now work for, I'm in the first line of defiense for 3 major customer facing 24/7 systems, that, if anyone of them has any integrity issues or fail at any point, we're sure to hear about it on the major news channels over here (as such, through this role, I'm again working on IBM kit - this time, from a customers perspective - so, seeing things from yet another angle).[Edit 1 times, last edit by gb009761 at Oct 13, 2017 12:12:59 AM] |

I just noticed that the team totals are missing for 10/12/17 but the individual user totals are there!
