Re: New Beta Test - January 12, 2017 [ Issues Thread ]

As before, everything goes very well on linux: 182 valid, 52 in PV, no errors or invalids. Run times between 53 min on my fastest and just over 5 hours on my slowest CPU.

Re: New Beta Test - January 12, 2017 [ Issues Thread ]

Assuming this beta is/was the new project that has just started, then can I say thanks from a non-beta-tester to all you guys. I don't have the time or skill to beta test, but I dedicate all the machines I have available to WCG 24x365. But I know it wouldn't be possible without the hard work you people do during beta - so, thanks. And as branjo said: Time to smash it...

Well, the work units have Bct-A in the names, so I'd say it was (and the SRA moniker was blinder).

If there's nothing more that the Devs can learn from the remaining beta units, compared to the live version, is it possible to cancel all remaining WUs? Yesterday we did eighteen years worth of work - that sort of juice could be reallocated to active projects.

Re: New Beta Test - January 12, 2017 [ Issues Thread ]

I for one am glad they have not. I have four Android units left that are over 12 hrs in. Individual crunchers can abort them if they wish and I'm sure even at this point that many would love to have the re-sends.

On another note: This was a very lucrative Beta test for me. Went from 28 days or so to almost 70. That gold badge that seemed an almost impossible dream is at least on the horizon now.

Re: New Beta Test - January 12, 2017 [ Issues Thread ]

The last 3 Beta's I returned from my android were Invalid again (1st batch) after a lot of Valids (2nd batch):

BETA_ SRA1_ 0000001_ Bct-A_ 97236_ 0
BETA_ SRA1_ 0000001_ Bct-A_ 93817_ 0
BETA_ SRA1_ 0000001_ Bct-A_ 93828_ 0

All 3 workunits still have 2 android wingmen in progress.

Example result outcome:

Result Name: BETA_ SRA1_ 0000001_ Bct-A_ 93828_ 0--
<core_client_version>7.4.53</core_client_version>

Re: New Beta Test - January 12, 2017 [ Issues Thread ]

It's policy at WCG to leave you guessing instead of posting a message that the beta was moved to production. 2 Strikes, it's also a practice to not give the production moniker during new project beta, an internal alias is instead used... what SCC1 stands for would have been 'reasoned' correctly as has happened in the past, members posting the project title, which, though never getting further than the forums, seemed to be perceived as undercutting the PR blast when launching... in this case we all knew already that a successor to Childhood Cancer was in the works... we just did not when it was coming... it would have been too easy. wink

(Still curious what that SRA1 alias stood for confused )
