Re: Xeon Phi

Knights Landing is impressive, but mainly for the AVX512 instructions. None of the WCG science apps use AVX or AVX512.

It is based on the Silvermont core which can do about 200 BOINC ppd. 1400 WCG ppd. Multiply by 64 and it is around 12800 BOINC ppd. Which isn't that impressive compared to 2P Xeons.

It is also 4-way hyperthreading. Or 4 threads per core, 256 total. But without AVX512 that probably only adds 30% in performance. While requiring 4 times the memory.
