From 2012? Really? *yawn* this was d last 1: https://www.usenix.org/conference/hotpower14 but research done on that publication in '12 has been done on a current processor that u can find on WCG & r within an average speed of WCG!  |

There is no "spare power" after Intel has introduced SpeedStep & Turbo technology to it's CPUs...those procesors use quite a big amount of power, when working on 100% of their speed (peak power)! first of all: YAWNso lets talk here about a power consumption Second. Spare power is when a nuclear reactor is running at 70% of capacity. Spare cycles is when a computer CPU is running and has moments when it is not running full speed. I recommend you research the modern CPU for a fuller understanding. My i5 runs at about 95% idle when WCG is inactive.  |
