....It seems like the EOD stats today ran in about 2/3's the usual time. Will be interesting to see if that continues tomorrow or that's just a one-off result of the weekend changes....... It appears that the changes have done something that has the stats running much much faster. I'm used to them completing about two hours after UTC midnight. It's done now by at least 1.5 hours. Caught some more details today. The "stats are running" screen appeared just before 01:00 UTC and said it would be a hour. Somewhere between 01:20 and 01:30 UTC, the stats completed. I suppose the db indices got rebuilt as part of the upgrade and are the reason for this. Odd it taking so much less than it said it would though. |

One of the hopes on my part is, that the future nightly stats are run from a snapshot, to leave My Contribution accessible, Device Profiles in particular as well as the Result Status pages. Then when the stats are complete a switch is flipped so we look at the update, a simple Ctrl-F5 action to flush in the fresh data. Of course, if the real lock out starts at 01:00 UTC, almost an hour after the official start at 00:06UTC and ends at 01:30 that's already a vast improvement over the 2 hours it could last [in my rare nightly visit seen it not come back until well after 03:00 (but that was my time ;)

Now that everything seems to be in order, the techs can begin/continue with the launch of a new project

All that investment just to let the midnight stats run faster?... Nay, we know the 'grid' could handle 12 concurrent projects already... Think there's more room to improve the experience
----------------------------------------![]() (Those project launches were not held up, as we read uplinger/chenna were running the upgrade show, armstrdj/seippel were still background coding away unperturbed AFAICT. We saw wham bam right after the outage, OET1 was reloaded, and the Android got 2 apps, and upgrade to PIE at that.) Key sentence, from what has almost completely been done per the Jan.16 technical update "With this extra server capacity we will be exploring how to get the stats updates to run quicker." Bringing the site back to it's ol self is not anything 'exploring', or is it? [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 13, 2015 6:19:15 PM] |

Thanks Rob.
It is quite late responce though, I was looking how the things going. Now, the order of "My contribution" back to as befor the maintenance and stable. One more thanks to the Techs is the time consuming dayly update. Before mantenance, it had been taken mor then a hour but about 40min today. Thankyou again for your efforts. Kiyo. |
