Re: Latest hardware & task run-time

I have overclocked to good effect in the past running 2600K watercooled @ 4.7 and 3770K @ 4.8.

Not sure about now but at the time I was getting 9K boinc a day error free on GFAM.

For me though the cost of electricity was prohibitive.

I now run E5-2650 es in pairs that get 14Kppd or maybe 18Kppd on VINA using Linux whilst using a similar amount of power. Good points and great for badges too. They don't really overclock so stock is error free for sure and everything is good..... Except the price.... unless you too can find es cpu's.

I have a pair of Xeon E5-2650 v2 es cpu's too. They cost more but produce more too as they run 0.7 faster.

There can be bios considerations using such cpu's though so if your pockets are deep enough to stretch to retail cpu's that is the preferred option.

Re: Latest hardware & task run-time

Old chap this is interesting information. However I would not be choosing server CPUs because I am wanting to go with DDR 4 ram. Out of interest how much one time per day did you get from your 2600 K and 3770 K CPUs? I also gather that your machines are running 24 hours a day? My computer will be running for 12 to 14 hours per day. Completely out of interest how long did it take you to get your Emerald badge for UGM

Re: Latest hardware & task run-time

1. ddr4 server cpu's would mean going with xeon E5-26xx v3

2. From memory both cpu's got in the order of 9Kppd boinc. http://boincstats.com/en/stats/15/host/detail/2518214 is a currently running example that I can try to find out the size of the overclock and the project mix and os.

3. Yes I run 24/7

4. Emerald badge was at the lunchtime update on Oct 19, 2014 so about 5 days and sapphire on Oct 22, 2014. I guess I had a bunch of other work in cache biggrin
