Re: Popularity Survey

@[CSF] Thomas Dupont: Thank you for the large amount of work that you have put into this thread, which I read occasionally.
However, I wonder why you started a new thread for these cancer news summaries when there was already a thread for them at Interesting News Articles About Cancer. (I read that one more often than this one).
Perhaps you saw the thread title but didn't understand it, or perhaps nobody had made a post to it for a while, so that it had scrolled down the MCM Forum index and it was off the first page.

Note that the forums for most or all of the WCG projects have a thread entitled "Interesting News Articles About XXX". We should ask the forum moderators to "Sticky" these threads.

Today, no news thread is an "official" thread.
Everyone is free to create a new.
In my case, I wanted to create a new formula with a fairly steady daily supply.
And I did not want to be imperative in another thread where I would have almost been the only one to publish.
If the Admins of the WCG project creates an official thread for the news, I will post in this thread but this is not the case today.
And if the Admins of the WCG project asks me to stop feeding this thread, I will.
It is for this reason that I started this Popularity Survey to gauge the interest of the volunteers for this thread.
For now, it does not seem very popular crying
I want to thank all those who have responded since the launch of this survey biggrin

Re: Popularity Survey

I was away for a while so i did not answer to the popularity survey and thank you for that thread:

+5

i appreciate to get news like that. Some posts points to discoveries or new techniques that allows us increase the knowledge abt own's illness and to discuss with doctors ( they pay more attention to you when you aware of some facts).
Chiefly here in France where you have a "strong" public hospital sector and an quite stubborn "Ordre des Médecins" which many are fear of.
cheers

Re: Popularity Survey

A novel computational method developed by the computational genomics group at Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) represents a big leap forward for cancer research as well as genome analysis.

“This new method is a realistic step towards personalized medicine, in which the genome analysis of each patient will aid diagnosis and allow the selection of treatments which are more effective and less invasive,” notes the BSC release. “SMUFIN represents a new way of analyzing genomes which could also be applied to the study of the genetics underlying many other illnesses prevalent in our society.”

Re: Popularity Survey

That doesn't mean you can't still post on https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,35795 when you see something interesting.

Re: Popularity Survey

First in class anticancer compound may be active against multiple types of tumors. CPI-613

CPI-613 is the lead drug candidate from Cornerstone's proprietary AEMD platform. Cornerstone's AEMD drug platform disrupts the essential "bioenergetic" differences that support the growth and development of many types of cancer cells. In the case of CPI-613, the compound has been shown to selectively induce inhibition of pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH) and alpha ketoglutarate dehydrogenase (KGDH), key mitochondrial enzymes involved in cancer cell metabolism in-vitro. Disruption of PDH and KGDH function cuts off the tumor's energy supply, culminating in cell death. CPI-613 is currently being evaluated in Phase I, I/II and II human clinical trials in solid tumors and hematological malignancies.
