Do we expect MCM to finish later now that FAAH2 has come on stream? If you have your MCM goal, please move to FAAH2 so those who haven't yet, can get theirs.
----------------------------------------I'm still hoping for my 5 yr badge. regards, Patrick ![]() |

As techs have laid out multiple times, moving project does -not- shorten or extend supply. The feeders are set to occupy nSlots, per project, reserved. If exclusive crunchers are not picking all up, they will be pushed to the non-exclusive crunchers on a first-come-first-served basis, mostly those who go by the 'all-project' selection. You can talk to the wall, but the wall does talk back.

Of course it extends the supply per user. If it does not, then we can all quit and the work will still get done on time.

[Last] Try this:
Daily MCM budget sent out: 100 Exclusive cruncher capacity: 20 [Pushed to] crunch anything you get sent: 80 That's why uplinger quite clearly said, the only way to speed a project up is increase the -OVERALL- crunching capacity. Of course, Jim1348, this also topples your second part of the argument: If we reduce the total WCG capacity, then a project goes longer, which is why the summer lull does slow down progress. BTW, there's very low frequency rumble at CERN of a new particle in an entirely new class: Klikonium. Provisional periodic table entry 227, unstable, grams / cubic cm of 22.61. |

Of course, Jim1348, this also topples your second part of the argument: If we reduce the total WCG capacity, then a project goes longer, which is why the summer lull does slow down progress. It reinforces my argument. I think you are assuming that there are a sufficient number of crunchers willing to accept work from a given project, and shifting the preferences around merely shifts the work around. But if the number drops below a given level, then there is no place to shift the work to, and so the project is necessarily extended. |

Just try, and IN ADDITION, MCM is the highest priority project at this time, all others run lower feeder priority, so in that constellation it pushes out whatever daily budget there is anyhow, gets picked up by the 'can't care less what comes' crunchers.
Two ships passing in the night [of you and me] it looks like though ;>) |

Undoubtedly so. It is just a question of the numbers, and I don't know how much slack is in the project by the "can't care less" crunchers. I sometimes turn that off myself; it depends on the machine. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Jim1348 at Oct 1, 2015 3:24:07 PM] |
