Re: MCM Progress Reports - August 30 Update

The question of choice is irrelevant .

First we are here as community to help the scientists and to crunch for the programs they offer.Anyway they will have a lot of work after.

Then you choose to crunch the one u feel more concerned with.
When this one is ending, yu are free to leave or will you let your conscience to still provide the capacity you offered till now

There is no orphan or neglected diseases for us.
What the scientists will discover will be public. No kept secret formulas(or selected patients population) like Big Pharma use to do and stop delivering medecines when no reaping enough profits.
Are you not aware that many said "foreighn" diseases are entering our affluent occidental societies?
Research must be global. And studies in one domain may unexpectedly lead to a discovery and happily to a treament for an illness not targeted at first.

Re: MCM Progress Reports - August 30 Update

I was a top contributor at F@H and one of the reasons why I left there is because I didn't like the research they were doing. At that time it was a lot of influenza research. Sure people die of it, but IMO, there are far more pressing diseases to go after.

As for foreign diseases; it has been rare and the more recent ones were from someone leaving that country and then lying when they entered back in. The only two cases that have been contracted were the nurses that were exposed. I view MCM and UGM as more important.

Look at it this way, all of the crunching I do on the projects I want, just gives more WU's on the projects I don't have an interest in. The feeder does control the amount of work leaving, so someone was going to crunch it anyway, it just wasn't me.

Re: MCM Progress Reports - September 13 Update

The following figures are based on a total number of work units of 350,000,000 from cubes.

Last 30 day average results: 544,160
Estimated end date using 30 day average: October 4, 2015
Percent Complete: 96.46553%
The average length of a WU is currently running about 4.11 hours.

If I look at the latest batch I have received, 16877, that would be about 96.44% complete.

We are at about .75 more months (approx. 23 Days)of additional crunching at the current recent run rate. The days in the past week showed a slight increase in work unit time from 3.54 to 4.11 hours per WU. The projected completion date has come two days closer than last week. Production was up ever so slightly this past week going from about 4.064 million WU's to 4.066 million WU's completed.
I am going out on a limb and projecting the last WU's will be issued in the first week of October. After that there should only be re-sends due to no replies, errors, etc. The bulk of the results should be returned by the end of the second week in October with the remaining few trickling in for the next week to 10 days. So, for those wishing to complete a goal for this project, keep an eye on the batch numbers and when they get into the 17400 range, increase your cache to 5.5 to 6 days. Since this project has a 7 day deadline this should be sufficient to maximize your WU's without overcaching and having units not meet the deadlines.
Good crunching everyone. Crunch on.

Cheers

Since I do this update weekly, I use the last batch I received on Sunday, Sept.13, even though I did not post the update until the early morning hours of Sept. 15. Currently as of about 16:00 UTC my latest batch is 16932. The last two weeks we have been doing just in excess of 200 batches.

Cheers

Re: MCM Progress Reports - September 13 Update

My burning question is this: Based on Sgt. Joe's very reasonable analysis, we started the week with about 23 days of new work remaining. We've done a few more days of works since that analysis, so we may be close to 20 days remaining. Yet no official 30 day warning from the techs. What gives?
