Re: MCM Progress Reports - April 26 Update

I'm currently expecting to get to my 5 yr badge at the end of Oct 2015.

Hopefully, this project will last that long.

Re: MCM Progress Reports - May 3 Update

The following figures are based on a total number of work units of 350,000,000 from cubes.

Last 30 day average results: 446,915
Estimated end date using 30 day average: October 24, 2015
Percent Complete: 77.59965%
The average length of a WU is currently running about 8.91 hours.

If I look at the latest batch I have received, 13565, that would be about 77.51% complete.

We are at about 5.85 more months of additional crunching at the current recent run rate. We really spiked this week with longer work units. The last 4 days all averaged over 8 hours per unit with Sunday, May 3rd at 8.91 hour average. It certainly appears we are onto lengthier units. The completion date has slipped all the way to almost the end of October. Production dipped significantly this last week to just over 2.221 million WU's for the week. I have had to add another line to the Y-Axis on the graph to accommodate the lengthier units.

Also, the work unit outage this Sunday has not helped, but we have to grin and bear it because no systems are perfect. Hopefully the techs can figure it out soon, but remember, they deserve their time off on weekends too. So, when more work units become available, crunch on.

Cheers

Re: MCM Progress Reports - May 3 Update

Thanks for the update Joe. Indeed you are correct, we did push out a new type of work unit. The work going on right now is an adaptation based on earlier results that have been analysed by the team. In fact, we're really excited to see the results of this push....which may then result in a new type of work unit.

It's really interesting to see the run times. We run several tests on our end under different conditions to try and normalize the run times....we don't really want to change the current set but hopefully we can adjust the next set to run closer to 5 hrs.

Thanks for noticing. It is always nice to hear some feedback from the scientists working on the project. Keep up the good work.

Is there a way (for us, humble crunchers) to know if a WU is a long or a short one, based on the WU's name?

Trying to do a bit of research, and that info would help out a lot.

Re: MCM Progress Reports - May 3 Update

That "Hours per Work Unit by Date" graph is quite telling. It's good to know it's not just me seeing a spike in run times. Thanks, mtsay, for dropping by and shedding light on our work and the reason for this spike. It's exciting to hear that we are providing some useful information for you and your team.

Last 30 day average results: 428,378
Estimated end date using 30 day average: November 1, 2015

The average length of a WU is currently running about 6.12 hours.

If I look at the latest batch I have received, 13701, that would be about 78.29% complete.

We are at about 5.89 more months of additional crunching at the current recent run rate. We had a few more days of longer work units, culminating with May 5th at 9.09 hours average per WU. We are now currently at 6.12 hours average per WU. The completion date has slipped to the beginning of November. Production was up last week to just over 2.696 million WU's for the week.
