Re: New Design - Observations and Notes

You can go through settings like Sek suggests, but that makes you sign in again when you don't need to.

Right now the landing page for 'settings' is the my profile page. In the next website update this will change and you won't experience this anymore.

Both the My Profile page and the Sign In Manager pages require that you have recently actually signed into the website (for example, not using the 'keep me logged in' feature). This is because you can fundamentally change access to your account (by changing the user name or password). This extra step reduces the chance that someone can hijack your account if you leave yourself logged in.

Re: New Design - Observations and Notes

I don't want to sound like Pollyanna, but it usually takes a little while to adjust to changes in a design that we've gotten so used. Let's give ourselves a little time to make the adjustment.

We appreciate this statement. There are some big changes coming over the next 3 months and this is the first tiny step. We hope that as the bigger changes come over the next months they are enjoyed by the members. We will be listening as they are released and considering the feedback.

Re: New Design - Observations and Notes

The device profiles are accessable, but it takes some finding. Click My Profiles, then in the text at the top click Device Manager, then click on the profile you want to change, or in the menu at the side where the old menu sub-tab for the device profiles now appears under the device manager menu entry.

Horrible change. Either find it through an obscure text link or through settings which makes you log in again. A useful screen that you want to find quickly is now an obscure 3-4 clicks away instead of being a single-click choice in the left navigation.

I guess your current design objective is to make the site harder to use, so I'll bookmark the Device Manage link until you stop hiding it down two obscure paths.

Re: New Design - Observations and Notes

In and of itself change is not an issue but to keep the longer serving members happy and to make life easier on folks joining it seems to me that any change ought to make the page more intuitive.

If I have to search around to find a feature that I know is there, what hope for the new guy who does not.

example: I cannot see any reason to withdraw the drop down menu for the forum nor can I see it being more intuitive to move it from the bar where home and my contribution reside, if that is to be the start point for everything else.

How about an entry in the my contribution dropdown for my devices? again, my everything else is found there....

Just thinking aloud here....

EDIT: re post above...Through settings??? Where the hell is THAT?? EDIT2 OK That is not on the home and contribution bar either. So which is it to be ??? everything starts from the bar or from the area where download is ??

remember KISS and keep it intuitive ....please

Re: New Design - Observations and Notes

Hopefully this new design business is a "work in progress." So far the changes are not intuitive.
Cheers

Re: New Design - Observations and Notes

I have a feeling (if I recall the previous design) that the table rows in forum have now lost their margins/spacing.. Is that intentional ?

Re: New Design - Observations and Notes

Another one, when trying to access the stats page whilst the updates are going on the "Classic" horizontal menubar with the Forums and My Grid in it appear on the holding page instead of the "improved" version.

I still think a beta website would have been a better idea than making it up as we go along for the next 3 months or so.

Re: New Design - Observations and Notes

It took only a minute to figure out where every thing was. I'm so used to it now that I don't even remember what the old website was like. Congratulation guys on a great upgrade.
