Re: New Design - Observations and Notes

Unless I'm missing something: Yes > Settings right top

For the Designers: Beta Testing I'd have put in the Settings sidebar. The Beta page still refers to My Profile, which is on Settings too.

Re: New Design - Observations and Notes

Comments, by SekeRob and others, during the recent BETA tests questioned whether the Points system, as currently structured, was "broken". Would it not be be a better option to display a member's accumulated RunTime on the bar at the head of the page?

Re: New Design - Observations and Notes

The device profiles are accessable, but it takes some finding. Click My Profiles, then in the text at the top click Device Manager, then click on the profile you want to change, or in the menu at the side where the old menu sub-tab for the device profiles now appears under the device manager menu entry.

I agree with your sentiments, the old layout was preferable to me, but sadly you can't stop progress, even if you don't like it.

Re: New Design - Observations and Notes

You can go through settings like Sek suggests, but that makes you sign in again when you don't need to.

Re: New Design - Observations and Notes

I wonder why it is that the sciences are felt to need betas to iron out the bugs so contributors don't get annoyed, but WCG itself doesn't need any beta testing so contributors don't get annoyed? If that sounds harsh or ungrateful it isn't meant to be.

Seems a perfectly valid observation to me!

Since the changes are for making our website easier to use and giving our members a richer volunteering experience it is to be hoped that user comments are taken on-board as the redesign work continues.

Re: New Design - Observations and Notes

I don't want to sound like Pollyanna, but it usually takes a little while to adjust to changes in a design that we've gotten so used. Let's give ourselves a little time to make the adjustment.

Re: New Design - Observations and Notes

The top line now shows your points.

Accumulated Points: 95600028

I might suggest some commas in the number for readability

Thanks for pointing this out. It has been fixed.

Re: New Design - Observations and Notes

Not sure if many people care, but the Widget Builder doesn't display the preview on 2 different systems I tested

Re: New Design - Observations and Notes

hmmm, above this thread my handle appears as one of the viewers, yet I'm not signed in, at least, left top it says: Sign In.

This Ulitily Bar right top says while on the Forums, Forums, maybe just to make sure we're on the forum.

And having written this in the Quick Reply box, then Preview to get the full writing screen, it still says left top "Sigh In". On the View Online Users it says: SekeRob View all online users.

Lots more typing... My Grid was nice and short... My Contributions is trice as long, then when going to MC (to keep it short) > Forums, the Sign In changed to Sign Out.

Then, when navigating to MC > Settings, I'm asked to sign in again. To be or not to be, that's the question.

This has been improved. There should be many fewer situations where the forums and the website show different states for being logged in.

Beta has been fixed so that the beta page shows the my contribution left navigation bar.
