If you check only Android you have a small idea of the number of ARM devices crunching GFAM but ARM is not only smartphones : There is some dev boards like Rapsberry Pi (the most known) and Plug Computers which run perfectly GNU/Linux and other multiplateform OSs like the BSD family which have BOINC for a lot of computer architectures. Those devices often come with a version of Android preinstalled for using them as HTPC but often replaced by a more convenient OS to create a small server running 24/7.
Personally, I'm building a Debian-based home server with a Cubieboard 2 :) |

There'd be 2 more if my phones could get any WU's to download.

There'd be 2 more if my phones could get any WU's to download. It's probably included in that number, as long as it's contacted the scheduler and appears in your host list. |

They don't. Found out this morning the project won't run on phones that don't have at least 50mb of internal flash memory.

I have my old Droid Bionic running fightaids@home 24/7
![]() I do have a Raspberry Pi, but it shares a charging cable with the phone and I figured the phone would probably compute faster. I shared this link on facebook but no one responded. I am sort of surprised by most people's lack of interest when I tell them about grid computing. I think its one of the coolest things ever and why would you not help the causes when its basically free? It's better than blindly paying money to charities or wearing something that says you support a cause. I think a lot of people are lazy and full of crap, but I digress ![]() http://money.cnn.com/2013/08/07/technology/in...smartphone-app/index.html |

According to BOINCstats, there are 13,924 android devices running WCG... almost made it to 14K !!! CJSL Crunching for a better world... Some serious interpolating required to fill in the blanks, half of a bell curve, getting so flat at the top, this seems to need a re-jolt [such as SN2S being added, but silence on that and too many other things is being served the lamb]: http://bit.ly/WCGAndroid . Maybe the latest 7.2.15, if one pushes an update from Google Play store, did the trick as first since weeks the daily credit avg went up [That's the only thing measurable, and active devices]. |

Added a few more parms to the Android chart and some odd numbers are revealed such as a huge hike in daily credit starting Sept.16 [The brown/orange markers]. Was that the new client version being pushed to hosts resolving such things as work fetching(?)... Is there some bug that auto-switched devices from single core to multicore(?). For sure, there is no jump in registered devices, and that's with underscore. That number is -Not- active devices but the sum of the installs ever made and returning at least 1 result, thus going from 280K credit daily to 450K is big. Could be a catchup from problem resolution, could be genuine... we'll know with a few more days of measurement [weekend coming too]. Measurement is knowledge ;D

Who done it [For the daily Android total credit to double in a week]? Most certainly not the butler. Anyway, since Sept.16, the daily credit climbed from ~280K to yesterday's 570K [orange/brown dots]. By some reading around it appeared that the development team has been kind of sole focused to bring a stable Android client to the Google Play store, certainly see that a 7.2.17 build is out now. [All other client builds are on hold, 7.2.16 for Windows an install dud]. Has that 'focus' been doing the trick, since the purple dots tell that just small daily device additions are recorded, implying that prior registered devices have started to contribute / crunch more successfully.
