Morning all. Yesterday the team was overtaken on points by ESU, as predicted
----------------------------------------![]() Looking at the overtake predictions, I'm concluding that as a team we have a lot of low-power cores, and and hence tend to favour small units (OET), because we do relatively well on runtime and results but badly on points.

Good morning everyone.
Not sure what is going on, but last few days points, results and runtime are well up and cannot account for this (I am not complaining). Can only think that current low temperatures are helping. Sciences are UGM, OET and beta FAAH. |

Good morning everyone.
----------------------------------------Not sure what is going on, but last few days points, results and runtime are well up and cannot account for this (I am not complaining). Can only think that current low temperatures are helping. Sciences are UGM, OET and beta FAAH. I think that WCG / Boinc hold back in crediting RT and Points occasionally (I don't mean the PV Jail). Certainly, for no apparent reason, my points average takes on dips and dives even when I am running just one project at pretty constant daily run time. From my calculations the points per hour CPU time for OET have dropped from ~178/h to 158/h recently but appear to be recovering now.

Well, my crunching capability has grown a little, in the last two days - a friend I was borrowing some CPU-time from noticed earlier in the week that his server was actually offline (I hadn't noticed, either).
----------------------------------------It's now back up and running again, albeit minus one of its two quad-core Xeons (which has apparently gone to silicon-heaven). He always said I could have half of the cores available, so that VM is now down to a 4-core, but working away again. It seems the previous work-units it handed in successfully were actually at the end of January - oops! ![]() |

It seems unlikely that WCG holds back points, Rod. I suspect it's more likely just the vagaries of the PV system. I've switched most of my processing to CEP2 and MCM, and as a result my credit has plummeted in the last week, and is now slowly picking up as these "harder" units are working their way through the system. I think the only way to get a smooth and consistent output is to pick one project and stick to it, preferably one where the units are all the same size.
----------------------------------------I've just switched energy supplier, which in theory should save me £450/year. I think I might celebrate by leaving my 8-thread home desktop on for a few days ![]()

Good Morning Everyone. A fine day in store here in Santa Cruz. I'm cooking a full English breakfast this morning - unfortunately without kidneys but all the other ingredients are there. Yum!

You can get black pudding, button mushrooms and baked beans in Bolivia? Sure can Dave but I use portobello mushrooms and Red Kidney beans in a tomato sauce. The black pudding is strictly a blood sausage and is not as highly seasoned as the UK version. I have my bacon specially cut so that it's about ½ cm thick and use a strong white crusty bread to fry up and absorb all of the bacon fat. Decadent I know but delicious.
