I am running down outstanding tasks prior to upgrade to Win 10 (crazy, impetuous eejit that I am) . If all goes well I should be up and running properly by midday tomorrow. I'd go for a complete reinstall rather than an upgrade if you can. My PC had several major lockups requiring a hard reset, although it seems to have settled down now after a couple of days. My laptop seems to keep losing the trackpad for about 15 or 20 seconds too, which is a bit annoying! Caveat emptor. I went down the upgrade route and had no problems whatsoever. Like the look of Windows 10 and think it is the best yet, especially on my tablets.

Morning everyone, Had a small windfall and thinking of upgrading my computer. Looking at getting a Intel i7-5820K 3.30GHz hexa core. Does anyone know when the next gen of processors are coming out? Might be able to get a i7-5930K or even a i7-5960X at a reasonable price soon after. I personally wouldn't wait Darkmatter. With no competition Intel are unlikely to drop their prices by anything significant and each new desktop generation from Intel makes me less excited. Single digit performance gains don't get me excited anymore, and you know when performance gains are bad when the new features on the latest motherboard are more worthy of note than the CPU in it!

Good Morning All, a little chilly here at the moment but promises to warm up to 29C. Snow in La Paz with a forecast -7C tomorrow. Just a slight difference in temperature! ![]() |

I have read of these new MB features in a number of reviews and some are impressive but some are not something I imagine I would need, even in the future. Still waiting on the xbitlabs review, looking forward to that. I do agree with your comments though I have seen big drops by certain online retailers in the past, but there were more significant improvements then. I will be keeping track of CPU prices for a while. For me to upgrade I will need to get a new MB, CPU, Memory and Heatsink, even saving £20 would be good for me. Would love an 8 core machine, though a 6 core is probably a more realistic target. ![]() |

Good Morning All. Slept in until 9am today - must have been that late bottle of wine. Cool outside at the moment as the wind is in the South (direct from Tierra del Fuego and the Antarctic). Promises to warm up later to about 26C so I will be out in the garden planting seeds.
