I am running down outstanding tasks prior to upgrade to Win 10 (crazy, impetuous eejit that I am) . If all goes well I should be up and running properly by midday tomorrow. I upgraded last week but rolled back a day later because it wont run Money. |

I am running down outstanding tasks prior to upgrade to Win 10 (crazy, impetuous eejit that I am) . If all goes well I should be up and running properly by midday tomorrow. I'd go for a complete reinstall rather than an upgrade if you can. My PC had several major lockups requiring a hard reset, although it seems to have settled down now after a couple of days. My laptop seems to keep losing the trackpad for about 15 or 20 seconds too, which is a bit annoying! Caveat emptor.

Morning everyone,
----------------------------------------Had a small windfall and thinking of upgrading my computer. Looking at getting a Intel i7-5820K 3.30GHz hexa core. Does anyone know when the next gen of processors are coming out? Might be able to get a i7-5930K or even a i7-5960X at a reasonable price soon after.  |

Good Morning All.
----------------------------------------Lovely day here in Bolivia - sun shining, Peacocks (still!) screaming. Must be the mating season. Last year there were at least 10 chicks, this year - who knows? Soon we'll be overrun with the b*gg*rs! I wonder if I can fit one in my oven for Christmas?

Each unit does indeed help crooks_uk, I've started getting the laptop to do a couple of units after it had a good clean out and now that it is a smidge cooler at the back of the flat. It sits on a spare rack from the cooker to raise it off the worktop.
----------------------------------------As for Win10, a couple of the laptops at work have been upgraded from Win7 and mostly everything works fine afterwards but a few things had to be re-installed. Didn't know that it is possible to share your wi-fi keys with other people, fortunately it seems that this option is off by default as to my mind this is not a good idea. @Darkmatter - sorry, no idea on the next gen processors. As you mention, hopefully prices will drop on the slightly older i7 afterwards. Always good to get a bit of extra grunt for your pennies. @RTS48 - they're just large chickens really so should be fine for Christmas lunch! |

Good morning everyone.
 Well the upgrade did not cause too many problems, have found that quiet swearing and fewer histrionics seems to work. Quite a few tweaks needed but hey.  |
