Btw Scribe, for a bit of variety I tried to join your Milky Way but I don't see any option to join the team. Any ideas?

Re: In Other News

I've not re-enabled CEP2 on my gaming PC, as it's currently concentrating on FA@H with the CPU and GPUGrid.net with the GPU.

I did have a look at the Collatz platform, but would prefer to stick to medical research rather than Mathematical research (despite doing a Maths degree).

....have you created a UK team at GPUgrid to add to the Combined BOINC score?

Had a quick look, but couldn't see any way to link it back to the already-created BOINC team - does it do that automatically, or is there something I'm missing?

Some more details here --> (link) - ie. looks like the founder email-address has to be identical, for it to export to other projects.

Re: In Other News

Just create a team called UK at GPUGrid, it will be automatically associated with all other teams called "UK".....that is all I did at Collatz and Milky way.... biggrin

Re: In Other News

Well, have created the UK team over on GPUGrid, will see if the BOINC-wide team detects it over the next 48 hours...

Well, I can find the team http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/team_display.php?teamid=6252 but no option to join. Is there any setting in the team admin? When I looked at other teams there was a link to click to join them but not the UK one.

At least the drizzle held off for the journey home. All fed and watered, time to put kettle on.

Re: Mmmmmm chocolate

Evening all!!! =)

genhos I was able to join the Milkyway team okay I think, I had the button to click and it shows up on my page, but I don't appear in the list of members? who knows! haha

I feel like a giant nerd because I've become obsessed with checking my crunch times despite the fact it does nothing for me personally, I sit here like oooooh only 10 minutes until my next task is complete hahaha

So whats everybody up to tonight? =)

Re: Mmmmmm chocolate

Can see you on the list now but when I go to the UK team page I can see there are 3 members but still no link to join. Think will need to post on their messageboard to try and find out what's going on.

As for tonight, just about to put the kettle on for one last cuppa and a gingerbread man to finish off the day.

Re: Mmmmmm chocolate

this might be a silly question, but its the only thing I can think of... your not in another team already are you? ;)

gingerbread man sounds might awesome, I'm about to have one last smoke and then go to sleep, got an early start and a busy day at work tomorrow

just one question for some of you longtime crunchers, how much damage does crunching do to a computer? both CPU and GPU? I know obviously it running at max capacity for long periods of time is gonna make a difference, and I'm happy with that, but I don't want it to make a considerable difference haha, at the moment I probably crunch about 12-16 hours a day, as my housemates get funny about my PC being on overnight, but when its on its crunching nonstop, is that likely to harm it severely in any way?? have you guys had things go wrong with yours? =D

Not going to put me off crunching as I really think this is an amazing idea, will just make me more careful with my crunching haha
