The AMD 7700 has run sweetly through the night and tasks have begun to validate. smile


No luck with the GeForce 7900 GS as yet - I'll investigate further.

CEP2
The shortened WUs have continued, typically taking ~4hrs to run. I've been able to run CEP2 on all 4 core with no appreciable loss of performance. I'm now just 13 RT days away from Emerald then I'll be ready for a massive grab of cancer BETA WUs when they arrive! wink

Shorter CEP2 units? Not had any so far, still doing 12hour runtimes at the moment.

Certainly encouraging to hear that progress is being made towards a new project.

The shorter CEP2 began to appear ~40hrs ago and can probably be seen to have a return deadline >03/10/2013 21:00. If that helps.

I have just completed a 12hour CEP2 so will have to see what the next one I pick is like.


The thing is the shorter WUs don't look any different from the longer ones and there's still no official info to guide us.

Boinc Mgr still expects them to take 12hrs* and displays the Progress % and Time Remaining accordingly. Then after 40% complete and 4.5hrs the WU suddenly finishes.

It's possible that inspecting the Properties of an individual WU whilst its running may give a clue. The first checkpoint comes after about 5 mins. In the longer WUs the second checkpoint takes several hours but in the shorter WUs it comes after ~45 mins and then approximately every 30 mins.

* Boinc Mgr will adjust in time. Currently mine is estimating completetion in 7.5 hrs - down from 13.5.

[Edit]There's also a problem with some WUs erroring out after ~30 mins e.g

A few shorter ones would be good just so that job2 doesn't take sooooo long, most of my recent ones have been around 9 hours just for that one job and that's 9hours of constant cpu usage. A bit of a pain when needing to switch off or restart the computer. Ah well, such is life.

In only its second day the UK team at Collatz has already started its climb. Stats This will only add to the UK team Combined Boinc score. So if any of you have idle GPUs come over and join JonnieB and myself and leap up the rankings.

Remember, we are only there until GPUs become available here again cool
