Do you guys know if there is any Beta Testing going on? I'm just checking because I've opted in but haven't received any WUs yet and just wondering if it worked or not, might be the case that there's simply not any going on at the moment.
----------------------------------------I'm assuming new WUs are distributed whenever there's any new projects are being developed so I won't ask how often it happens :-) But as far as I know there are some upcoming climate projects so I was expecting at least something...

@Distemper,
You are correct in your assumptions. There are none at the moment that I'm aware of. A small number of WUs were released a week or so back but I should think there'll all back by now. Betas come very spasmodically and can be of any size or duration and for any combination of platforms. Once in a blue moon there are even more than one running at once. You'll have to keep an eye on the beta forum for details. That's the only forum I'm subscribed to, so I stand a better chance of seeing the e-mail if I don't see it in my browser. Good luck with getting your first beta badge -- it will probably take a long while unless a very big beta comes along. |

Just got my ten year Zika badge, and noticed that my team sig has changed colour 'cos I also got 100 million points for the team.
One of my other long standing targets looks like it might be within reach too, and that's to get all three measures of global contribution to show me as being at or better than 2500th place. I now only need to move up one more place in runtime. But so many people have many slow cores, and I don't do that. Time to cross my fingers again. Mmm, I think I need a celebratory coffee! |

Looks like that celebratory coffee is in order, Apis. It's been a good week
----------------------------------------![]() I too am agonisingly close to my "diamond" team signature border, but getting there very slowly - another couple of months by the look of it ![]()

Hi DC,
Yup, I was wondering which of us would get there first. It was close run until you had issues, but you'll soon be there. And I got to 2499th world runtime rank this morning too. Yey! But in less than two weeks unsmurf will knock me down to 20th in team runtime so I'm not getting it all my own way. But I've never really wanted to play with the big boys so I'm happy enough. Keep crunching! |

But in less than two weeks unsmurf will knock me down to 20th in team runtime so I'm not getting it all my own way. But I've never really wanted to play with the big boys so I'm happy enough. Keep crunching! My issues were that my employer told me that running WCG on my i7-6700 work computer was no longer allowed, so 8 threads were lost overnight. I was then running 8 threads on a phone (great for runtime, rubbish for points), and then the battery expanded and it broke (at least it didn't catch fire). So I'm now down to one core of a NAS, which takes about 5.5 hours for an MCM work unit, and my home PC which only runs when I'm sitting in front of it (although it does take an hour to power down, and I tend to let it run for that time). Also, I have moral issues related to energy consumption and climate change. I eschewed grid computing until the Clean Energy Project came along. That got me into WCG, and unfortunately I got hooked. I then switched to the MCM project when my late wife got cancer, and have now racked up 50 million points and nearly 31 years of runtime on that project. At the current rate though, they will have cured cancer and colonised Mars by the time I get my Diamond 50. Maybe I shouuld buy a new Ryzen 7 3800X and offset it by turning the heating off in my house. That will go down well ![]()

Oh Dear, Crooks_UK is our Captain so he would have got the invitation, not like him to drop the ball. Are you still with us Crooks_UK? Apologies guys. I've been extremely busy with work and hadn't checked in for a while (which was much longer than I had realised!). We are now signed up for all of the team challenges.
