I know I'm new and joined purely because the Thor challenge was about to start as my old Team did not join in, but challenges give a bit of interest in what can be an otherwise slightly boring world of crunching. I personally run lots of projects until a challenge starts and then I swap all my cores over to just that challenge so that I feel I am competing and am part of a Team where everyone pulls together and in the case of wcg, and other worthwhile biology projects it makes me feel that I am making a difference and could really be helping to find a cure etc.

If we're going to function as a team, we should be joining challenges AND announcing them in the forum. It makes it all a bit more fun.

Yes earlier in the year there was an SCC challenge and it was only because we discussed it here that people switched projects and we came out on top - in the big scheme of things it doesn't' change much but it certainly created a bit of interest, even a welcome buzz at the time.

Hi All
----------------------------------------First and foremost, welcome to the team all the new members. I know I don't get on here much these days, but I do look in, even if I don't post! As some of you know, I've built various machines over the time I was crunching hard, returning over 1.5 CPU years/per/calendar day in my prime. Those days are long gone, unfortunately! However, I'm building a new monster rig! It started out going to be a mining rig, but after much research, it looked like mining had, had it's day. or put another way, would likely not be profitable given the hardware and electricity costs. So, it's now going to be a crunching rig, running over night to keep the costs down. If there is any interest, I'll post some detail and pics as I've dome with previous builds.

Hi team,
----------------------------------------Just wanted to say Hi now that Mamajuana has opened up the opportunity :) I joined the team a few days ago shortly after joining WCG itself. Really nice to see so many committed crunchers, and the stats page that Dave built is simply amazing! Look forward to getting to know you all!
