Re: Good morning everyone

Hi Team, I haven't been around for a while although I'm still crunching as much as possible. I( have yet to get my 2 core MacBook pro back from repair - It went in for a battery change as the old battery had swollen so much it had burst the case. It was working ok when it went for repair but now will not start up and the repairer is saying a new motherboard is needed. Obviously with a laptop so old that is not worth it. I still have a watchful eye on some of the newer 6 core offerings from Apple but need to go to the USA or UK to buy one as import duty is very high here.

Re: Good morning everyone

Thanks DC, my 5th D10, going for my first D20 in SCC now.

Rod, I have relatives in Canada that could send you one, if that helps.

Re: Good morning everyone

Morning all,

Finally got my ability to work from home back, I drowned my Blackberry in a storm in HK (not the big one recently), got it replaced by an iPhone with a bunch of Blackberry apps on it, seems a bit clumsy but it works ...enough. and yes when I "work from home" I tend to distract myself with wcg more tongue

Sorry for overtaking you Rod, am chasing down GrumpyCat now who looks like they aren't contributing at the moment so might get there quite soon.

I decided not to sell my workstations on Ebay just yet as I had a weird experience selling some wheels, a chap paid then decided I was too far away so he asked for a refund and raised a case (bit naughty) when a case it raised the funds get locked and you cannot refund, paypal says speak to Ebay and Ebay says do it directly through paypal - Hilarious now but very frustrating at the time, support outside the US is weak - even the chatbot doesn't do UK hours. In the end I had to refund using my own funds introduced to paypal as a new transaction. Sorry... bit of a moan but the upshot is they're heating my house quite nicely and helping me out with some points.

Re: Good morning everyone

Morning all,
Looking forwards to the F1 in Russia. Hoping Ferrari have got a bit more in store for P3 and Qualifying. Kimi's looked especially weak so far.

I had no way to watch it (my brother hasn't renewed Sky as he doesn't see a major need for it and, although I have a communal dish on the roof of my flats, I definitely wouldn't use Sky apart from the occasional watch of the F1 channel), so I ended up watching the final race-package of the British Touring Cars at Brands Hatch instead - can't complain at 7.5 hours of mostly-exciting motor-racing on TV, really! smile

Wow that's a good session! I'm not a fan of Sky either, I've got it via a Virgin Media package which I'm thinking of ditching. Might go back to freesat and look at streaming options.

The Russian GP was pretty good as they go, Verstappen's drive from 19th to 5th was impressive. I think the controversy around Lewis and Bottas not switching back round will overshadow it. Personally I believe they lost more than they gained by the decision they took, it would be interesting to hear all the comms between Lewis and the team in the last laps, he clearly didn't like to win the way he did and I hope he wished to switch back - in fact I wish he'd took it upon himself to let Bottas back past even if it meant upsetting the team slightly in the short term, the dividends would have come good over time.
If Lewis wins by less than eight points then feel free to remind me about this post though wink

Re: Good morning everyone

Do you remember last year when Lewis did not overtake Bottas and lost a point because of it, he said afterwards that it was a mistake with the championship being so close.
Later in the year when Lewis wins the championship, I'm sure he will let Bottas have a victory.

Re: Good morning everyone

Welcome to the team, ncoded.com.

Give it a week or so, and then see how you're doing on my Team UK stats site.

According to your website, "Our current data cluster consisters mainly of over 150 Logical Xeon Cores, as well as multiple High end GPU's." Let's hope a good chunk of that contributes to Team UK smile
