Re: Crypto..

Hi Guys,

Just in case people are not aware, you can offset your electricity and hardware costs if you sign up for Byteball and DCC. Unlike other crypto crunching projects (eg Gridcoin) you dont have to change/join any specific teams to earn these.

If you are new to BOINC + Crypto, the way it works is you just crunch BOINC projects as normal (after adding your BOINC user_id to either the site/or wallet), but then you earn crypto in return based on RAC as a reward; this gets paid to your given crypto wallet.

You can either keep this crypto, exchange it into another crypto, or cash out back into £Pounds via an exchange. There is no cost setting up or getting a wallet etc; its 100% free. If you want to exchange then the given site will just take a % of the crypto as a fee.

If you have any questions or issues, just give me a shout and I will try and help out where I can.

If you think crypto is scam or ponzi scheme, then just ignore this post.

Information about setting up WCG and Byteball is here:

https://medium.com/byteball/computing-for-good-again-3795336bdaed

1 GByte (byteball) is currently worth around £32. There are facilities within the wallet you can exchange Bytes straight into Bitcoin if required. (do not use this facility as the exchange rate is terrible, use bittrex.com instead).

DCC (SPARC) is a new pre-launch token but is starting to look pretty good atm. You can sign up here:

Re: Crypto..

Wow, free cash who’d a thunk it?

I don’t need it thanks, a guy at a Nigerian bank got in touch today telling me he’s overseeing a bank account of an American guy who passed away in a plane crash, even sent me a link to the story on the bbc website, just needs my help to get 17 million dollars out of the country.

For fun I just joined Byteball, took < 5 mins, FYI my historic points total meant I received 3.9 'Gbytes', had this been in my wallet last July and I'd cashed this into just over 1 Bitcoin it would now be worth nearly £5grand. Crazy crypto markets!
Looking at the Byteball history I'd say it's had it's day in the sun but as it costs nothing to join ...

Re: Crypto..

We just exchange the Byteball into Bitcoin every few months via bittrex.com, and then use it to buy computer hardware from Scan.co.uk

Previously the exchange within the wallet was not too bad either however now the rates are terrible, so I have reflected this in the original post.

A quick check shows you would now get around 0.02278940 BTC for 3.9 GBYTES on Bittrex.com, which is around £110. Like you say, not bad for free and just a few mins setting it up.

Lewis might clinch the title this weekend - if so that's a double treble for me. wink
