Hi Guys I have a 2Tb HDD that is reporting the following error: "Cyclic Redundancy error" Anyone got any ideas as to the problem and/or a fix? Seatools will see it but all tests fail. Thanks Have a look here. http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Cyclic-Redundancy-Check-Error As the article says - back up everything you can first and then run the various checks. A low level format may clear the problem but if not it's off to Maplin for a new disc. In my experience, CRC's are usually because the drive is b*ggered, or the driver or BIOS is a bit dodgy. The latter is unlikely these days. If the SMART tools (e.g. HDDGuardian) report that the disk is OK, a factory reformat might fix it, but frankly I'd be planning for buying a new one ![]()

It turns out that all the people who have signed up using an email address as their username (and hence have an "@" in their user id) end up with zeros in their world totals and their signature. There's currently 5 of them in the "allsigs". I have tried to fix this and failed, for tonight at least. Would've gotten away with it too if it wasn't for those pesky @ signs! Can't say that I have seen it do that before though. Mind you that could be entirely down to me not paying attention! On the lunch time update I passed 21 years RT for WCG. 21 again! ![]() And will hopefully get a Golden hammer on tonight's update. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 2 times, last edit by genhos at Mar 31, 2017 10:19:15 PM] |

Good morning all. Congratulations genhos on your achievements. Oh to be 21 again - knowing everything, understanding nothing and living off the state (I was in University at the time with a Local Authority grant - remember those?). Myself and another student had our 21st Birthdays on the day thet The Moody Blues were visiting the Uni for a concert. He was a great fan but missed the whole show as he was in hospital having his stomach pumped due to a few dozen dodgy drinks
---------------------------------------- . Ah those were the days!

Think I may work with a couple of those know-it-all 21yr olds!
----------------------------------------What a reason to miss out on the show with just a few dozen dodgy drinks. I know I couldn't drink that much then (maybe due to not going to university ) and certainly less now. |

Nope! Thanks again.

Morning all.
----------------------------------------Thanks Mamaj and all. Somehow I get the feeling that for most of us that, while we must have been 21 at some point, it is rapidly disappearing behind us. Just a small dot in the rear view mirror! |
