Good morning everyone
----------------------------------------RTS48, I probably won't sleep wondering about you TV aerial, let us know as soon as you can please. Thank you for your concern DMNI I can report that everything was found to be intact in the morning. I am sure that the lightning struck something local but I have yet to see what. On a lighter(?) note, I have negotiated, with a neighbour who keeps horses, for a regular supply of the steaming stuff to enhance my garden soil. Who knows - I'll be growing rhubarb soon . First barrowload should arrive today.

Morning all - apt-get update / upgrade didn't go as planned so my 64 core box was offline for a few hours :-( happily all running now plus another 40 cores I found down the back of the sofa I am so jealous, reduk. You and mamajuanauk (who appears to have upped his/her crunching output recently, just to make sure I'm not first to bag the badges for Smash Childhood Cancer) have awesome rigs.

When I was a nipper my Granddad used to send me out to follow the horse whenever the rag-bone man was round our way, to collect the horse droppings "to put on his rhubarb" Grandma preferred custard... ![]() |

Most of my 'Good" machines have gone now, I'm only running an AMD G34 twin processor machine and one running 2 x E2600, oh! ans some times my laptop... Nothing like I used to run. But, I'm still crunching! [edit] I do miss the days when I was returning a year plus of crunching per day, oh those were the days... [/edit]

Once I've moved house (hopefully later this year), I may have a look to see if I can get another machine or two added to my farm - well, can't really call it a farm any more, as I'm down to a single dual-hex-core Xeon server these days!

I'm fortunate to have a barely used DR site running 64 cores although they are vitualised and WCG is low priority but still returning 120k to 150k points per day plus I have a dedicated 4 x 16 (64) core AMD rig on a Supermicro board which earns 170k to 200k per day.. oh and a few i7 work stations :-)

I am sure that the lightning struck something local but I have yet to see what.. That is good news at least, a house I lived in in NZ was struck by lightning, burnt the roof off. It was an old house with no lighting rod. We were fine but a bit scared (think I was 6) when being woken up in the early hours because the house was on fire. ![]() |

Our Baker, Coalman and Rag and Bone man all had horses and they all seemed to leave their nuggets outside our house. It was a race with the neighbours to collect it before anyone else did. And yes, we preferred custard too!

Points 7 Day Leaderboard Now that it's running 24hrs that 8year old Dell C6100 (heater edition) is returning 1.4M points per week although it's taking 4 boards to achieve what you get with 1, still I'll miss it when the weather warms up! Time to start thinking of a replacement for the summer (ideally sub 300watt), hoping that the same output could be achieved by a dual Xeon v3/v4 set-up. Anyone got any views on machine specs for crunching, I guess go for as many cores as cash will allow but are the low voltage ones worth a look? cheers all and have a great weekend,
cheers,

Good Afternoon all. I still have not managed to cut the grass as we have had some persistent rain every day since I've been back. I'm waiting for a 24 hour dry spell and then I'll be off!
