Evening all.
----------------------------------------Glad the meet up between RTS and DCR went well, some good hospitality and a meeting of crunching minds. As for your query mac1, unfortunately not a clue about the RT question unless you have somehow managed to get a 9 core cpu ![]() Time for a brew up and a rich tea biscuit - Morrisons own brand rich tea are superb by the way, I think they're better than McVities, a bit bigger and cheaper too. ![]() |

Morning all. It's cool you guys met up. My weekend's going well, managed to quieten down an old LGA771 server from 60db down to 48db , my crunching has been all over the place with my trial and error (a lot of those - should they be called 'learning opportunities' these days?) redesigning the case. It has been serving as a noisy heater the last week, now it's a tolerable one for the study, hopefully it can crunch solidly for the next week.I too was a bit curious by the disparity of run-time/points on some projects vs others but I didn't change anything till Dave mentioned it too, after nearly a week of just FAH (and a chunk of 20hr FAH2 WU's which hung around from before) it's clear that there are many more points to be had, in fact around 20% more. What I didn't expect was also the run-time doesn't stack up, my 8 thread PC was previously putting in 6 or 7 days per day (so nearly a day per thread) but it now does 9 days per day - it seems the FAH project is over generous. Although not really in the spirit of WCG - perhaps an opportunity for the team to make hay? I do wonder if this is a mistake (perhaps too small a sample for benchmarking) or a deliberate mechanism to steer contributions for good reasons, I dunno - any of you crunch vets understand this? Cheers, It's very likely results being released from PV prison! I.E. results that have been awaiting validation or verification (are they spelt right? Its late for me...) It happens now and again...

Morning all,
----------------------------------------Cheers chaps - whilst I wish my CPU had sprouted a new core - that would be cool! I reluctantly had to satisfy myself that it was a backlog of results coming through, in fact whilst I was in Poland just before Christmas I was seeing results getting validated and points attributed 4 days after I switched off and got on a plane, however after the pattern persisted exactly from the time I switched to FAH..... I have to say it seems too solid a trend across the board to be latent results so I'm drawn to the fact that FAH is overly generous. .. or perhaps there's some time travel going on cheers,
cheers,

The pie charts on my stats page shows the average across the whole of team UK, which is currently between 80 and 90 crunchers. Run time is an inexact figure, because an android phone is going to generate many fewer points than an i7-6700K per core hour. However, if you assume that 85 users is enough for a meaningful average across all projects and all devices, it certainly looks as though FA@H is being very generous.

Good Evening All.
----------------------------------------I'd forgotten quite how cold it is here in the UK in January. I went out for lunch (again) today and it was like setting out on an arctic expedition just crossing the car park to the restaurant. To think that I endured temperatures of -40 C in Kazakhstan (albeit with about 50kg of clothing to keep me warm). I've obviously gone soft since I have been living in Bolivia. I have now set up my projects to take advantage of the FAH point glut (having mistakenly set up FAH2 first) - let's see what happens. I have about equal CPU time for FAH and OET to reach 20 year diamonds - who knows what will happen.

I have got some long-lasting FAH units at the moment, taking 10 tines the minutes the shorter ones...

Morning All,
----------------------------------------Tom yeah, gone are the 10 minute WU's, in fact I saw one WU complete in 48 seconds a few days ago, anyhow they seem to be mostly a couple of hours or more now. Might be a blip but looks like the generosity took a hit yesterday, perhaps they are balancing the books, let's see what tomorrow brings. ![]() cheers,

Crikey, that's some difference in points and results for a small number of RT hours difference mac1.
----------------------------------------![]() On those figures, I think your "looks like the generosity took a hit yesterday" is a little understated! |

Morning all!
----------------------------------------Yeah, it didn't look good and unfortunately it's the same today, that PC for 7days 9hrs run time generated 15k points from 43 results - I guess it's payback time for FAHV. I've pulled down a weeks worth of WU's for that PC so I can monitor it but my other 2 I've switched projects. Not a big problem but is there an easier way to post images on this forum without having to host them somewhere? cheers,
cheers,
