Good morning all from the UK for a change. I got in yesterday at about 2pm and arrived at my friends house in Market Harborough about 2 hours later. I'm now in the process of rejoining the human race as the Jet Lag evaporates slowly. My crunching has of course taken a hit with my 8 thread lap top being off for more than 24 hours. Hopefully I'll get up to speed again soon.

Evening all.
----------------------------------------Welcome back to blighty RTS. Hope your rejoining the human race isn't too unpleasant, so relax and put your feet up. Nice to see a couple of big Diamonds about. Also good to see a couple of new badges for two lesser spotted team members Forficula and applai as well as a bronze Beta for Bartough (as spotted on http://wcg.36arn.co.uk/, the team's stats page supplied by dcrobinson) . Well done ![]() Oh and the sleep was very welcome DCR. |

Afternoon all.
----------------------------------------Welcome Bardwellruth to the team (slightly delayed welcome admittedly!) and for your first validated results. Hope you read this and drop a line in to introduce yourself, either way it's great to have you with us. |

Well, I've now met Rod Peel (aka RTS48) "in the flesh", and I can safely say that he's real and he's a nice bloke
----------------------------------------![]() I hope you're all having a good weekend.

Well, I've now met Rod Peel (aka RTS48) "in the flesh", and I can safely say that he's real and he's a nice bloke ![]() I hope you're all having a good weekend. Good Morning all. I too have now met Dave Robinson in the flesh and can confirm he too is a nice bloke! Ah but I was not met in the 'Beard'. I must admit that it was a mistake to shave off the winter plumage, it is (for me at least) biting cold and I am looking forward to getting back to summer at the end of next week. Have a great weekend all.

Morning all.
----------------------------------------It's cool you guys met up. My weekend's going well, managed to quieten down an old LGA771 server from 60db down to 48db , my crunching has been all over the place with my trial and error (a lot of those - should they be called 'learning opportunities' these days?) redesigning the case. It has been serving as a noisy heater the last week, now it's a tolerable one for the study, hopefully it can crunch solidly for the next week.I too was a bit curious by the disparity of run-time/points on some projects vs others but I didn't change anything till Dave mentioned it too, after nearly a week of just FAH (and a chunk of 20hr FAH2 WU's which hung around from before) it's clear that there are many more points to be had, in fact around 20% more. What I didn't expect was also the run-time doesn't stack up, my 8 thread PC was previously putting in 6 or 7 days per day (so nearly a day per thread) but it now does 9 days per day - it seems the FAH project is over generous. Although not really in the spirit of WCG - perhaps an opportunity for the team to make hay? I do wonder if this is a mistake (perhaps too small a sample for benchmarking) or a deliberate mechanism to steer contributions for good reasons, I dunno - any of you crunch vets understand this? Cheers,
cheers,
